Akv - low 70s a point. Convince me to buy

About to sign contracts to buy into dvc resale at akv. Price per point is low 70s. For some reason we are scared to bite the bullet... I guess because we aren't financing and taking a nice lump sum out of our bank account to purchase.

Convince me that this is a good deal and wise for us Disney lovers.

I decided it is a good deal and am waiting for my contract today! Also AKL. I personally think AKL offers the best combo of on site "luxury" accomodations with length of contract, mid range dues, and price per point. I considered BLT but I just was not as excited about it as AKL. And the low coat per point of AKL lets me get my feet wet with DVC without a huge financial commitment. I will spend about $5000 this year on Disney hotels alone and I could have bought my DVC with that.

Without knowing your personal situation, its hard to say. Low 70's at AK is a pretty good deal! If you can afford to spend the money and its what you want then go for it. We bought our first DVC contract last year and took our first DVC vacation this year, we loved it! I do however, understand not everyone can or should buy. Paying cash is obviously better than financing.

If you have the cash, and you love Disney, it is money well-spent. Life's short, go to Disney World. You can always sell if you get tired of your points, but I'd be willing to bet you'll be looking to add-on before you're looking to sell!

It does seem like a good price and the only concern is that if it is too good of a price then disney could take it. Looking at the recent ROFR the lowest AKV are in the mid 70's. It also depends on the size of the contract - you did not provide those details. Disney doesn't typically take AKV, but they also will not allow anything to go through too cheap either. I guess you don't have anything to lose besides time. You can put your offer in, pay your deposit, wait for disney to make their decision in the next month. If they take it you start over. If they don't then you got a good deal. Just depending on how much time you have to play with.

Yes, the offer sounds to tempting for Disney not to take it and flip it, to make $$$.

Buy where you love to stay or be prepared to sell and buy your favorite resort later after you learn that you have trouble booking there. You will seldom have trouble booking AKV and SSR at 7 months.

I signed today for 100 points at AKL at $74/point. Seller pays 2016 dues and credits me for 2017 dues. I pay closing. Super stripped contract 0 points until Feb 2018.
