We stayed at AKV-Kidani for our first DVC trip Oct 22-29, 2011. It was our fourth trip to WDW, but first as DVC members. We were in room 7633, a standard 1 bedroom on the same floor as the lobby. All I can say is WOW!!
AKV lived up to all of my expectations and more. I am so glad we joined DVC so we can continue to stay in these types of accomodations. Our first three trips were great too (POP twice and POFQ), but OMG AKV really was like coming home at the end of the day. I loved having my own room (with hubby) and the king size bed was very comfortable. The tub in the master bathroom was HEAVEN, and I very much enjoyed unwinding in it at the end of the day. The resort itself was beautiful, peaceful, and calm. We loved seeing the animals (no regrets about not having a savannah view). The staff were all terrific, pool was great (kids loved the slide), and the buses were just fine. It was an amazing stay, and we can't wait to go back.

Thanks for your trip report, glad you had a great time:banana: WTG about becoming a DVC owners :woohoo:

sounds wonderful! I'm so glad to hear that -- we will be in a 1bd at Kidani next week - can't wait!!:)

Thanks for your review! We stayed AKL CL this summer and had a fabulous time! We never made over to Kidani Village -- I think I will look into booking a stay there soon! :goodvibes

Stayed there for the 1st time last year with our "group" of DIS ladies. I agree with you, it was wonderful!! We loved it so much, we're returning this Thursday for another trip!!! We loved that with the 1 br, you have 2 full baths & it sleeps 5 people, kitchen, w/d!!! LOVE IT!!! :lovestruc

Thanks for posting. We will be there for the first time at the end of the month. Did you do any of the daily activities I have heard about?

Unfortunatley we didn't have time for any activities at the resort. There were fun things going on at the pool while we were there, but my kids just wanted to swim! They showed movies at the pool every night too. We used the night vision goggles to view the animals a couple of times, but I found I could see the animals better without them.

I'm glad to read such a positive review. We're going to be at Kidani in January. We have stayed at Jambo before, but never Kidani, and we are a little nervous about liking it as much as we liked Jambo, so it's reassuring to read your review. :)

We just had our 2nd stay there, in a grand villa. Although I've owned at Beach Club for a long time, Kidani is my favorite DVC resort.

Thanks for the review. So glad to hear you loved AKV Kidani. We were there in September and we loved it too (some of the friendliest CM's we have ever seen).

Glad to hear you had a great trip. We actually prefer Kidani to Jambo House. AKL is our home resort! And we love it. Next trip is kid's choice, though--so AKL is a no go as they have other plans.:goodvibes

Its sounds like you had a great time! Can you comment on the comfort of the pull-out sofa and chair? Also, was the room size adequate for a family of 4?

TIA!

LOL - I was reading this & didn't see who posted it - and I thought OMG! Another group of DIS ladies like us that stayed at Kidani last year AND at the same time we're going again this year....how ironic is that? Then I saw it was you - I'm part of that DIS group of ladies ROFL!!!

Have to agree, I think I like Kidani the best! We've done numerous girls trips in the last few years & so far Kidani is the only one we've returned to.

We'll be there in less than a week!

I slept on the pull out chair & it was very comfy. I slept like a baby on it! We had 4 adults sharing a 1BR and it was more than enough room. The 2nd bathroom is perfect when you have 4 ladies getting ready in the morning. I didn't sleep on the sofa bed, but the gal that did said it was just fine.

:rotfl2::rotfl: Now that's funny!!! Yes, Tara, I was talking about our little group!!

My 10 year old daughter slept on the pull-out couch, and the 11 year old on the chair. I layed down with both of them for cuddles and was surprised at how comfortable they were! I could have slept there myself. The room size was perfect for our family. We kept the kids beds pulled out all the time and there was still plenty of space. Having two bathrooms and the washer/dryer was awesome too.

I forgot to mention that the walk from Kidani to Jambo was short and easy, but the shuttle van they have is also a quick and easy option too. No problem going back and forth.

I am so glad you enjoyed Kidani. It is our home resort too and we love it so much more than we thought we would!

To the poster who asked about the pull out couch. I slept on it for four nights on our last trip and it was very comfortable, more so than the ones I have slept on in Jambo House or at Saratoga Springs.

Any issues with the bus service? I have read on several other posts that the buses at AKL are a problem. Thanks!princess:
