AKV Kidani in December

We'll be staying in a studio at AKV Kidani village for the first time in December. It will be our first time visiting WDW in December also and can't wait to see the beautiful holiday decorations. Very excited!
Should we request a particular location and/or level? I want a decent view of the animals when sitting out on the balcony and would prefer not to be looking down at them. Can we expect to see many animals out on the savannah in December?
Any recommendations, hints, tips, etc. would be greatly appreciated

If you reserved a savanna view, you will have a view of animals, otherwise not, and yes they are out much of the day in December. If you don't want to be looking down, then you may want to request "lower floor" (two or three -- there are five total and first floor has no rooms).

We were on the 2nd floor and it was great.
