Long ago, we stayed in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but have never stayed in the DVC there. Next month we will be staying in a studio with our six year old. We have a deluxe savannah view. Our older kids will remain at home so this is a special trip with our "baby." Is there any room selection that I should request. I'm really unfimiliar with it. If there's something good to request, I'd like to do so. We will have a car if it matters. My daughter will be thrilled by the animals as she wasn't even born the last time we were there!

I stayed in a Kidani studio last year. I would request Sunset Savannah, close to lobby, 2nd floor. The animals seemed to be around the lobby area most of the day. We were in the inner part and the animals mostly only came around late afternoon. Sunset Savannah has the giraffes and zebras, among others. The Pembe Savannah features Okapi, no giraffes or zebras.

Where you stay at AKV is certainly a matter of preference. We requested a 3rd floor room near the lobby last month, and instead got a 5th floor room on the end. Turns out we loved it. The rooms at the end of the property (towards Jambo House) are only on one side of the resort. The other side has these great windows and you can see out. Also, from the 5th floor you could see across the savannah. It seemed like the animals constantly moved around too.

The next time we go, I'd stay on the 3rd floor and not the second. The second floor is the same floor as the lobby and store -- so there's lots of people walking by your door...

I'm sure you'll have a great stay!

I would second the request of 3rd floor near the lobby. But remember, it's only a request. With that same request, we ended up several beads down toward the end of the savanna.

Thanks to you all! I really appreciate your advice! I know it's just a request, but maybe it'll help to have an idea. Thanks for your time!

:) We have stayed on the second floor and third floor to the left of the lobby, almost the same room-toward sunset savanna. We were very happy with both views, as they were just alike and honestly no different. I checked in online exactly 10 days before and sometimes wonder if that kept us a little closer to the lobby. :confused3

Laundry was very easy to use each time. CMs very , very friendly our last trip earlier this month. Be sure to check out Communtiy Hall--lots going on there. To the right of the lobby at the library there is a glass bullentin board with all the scheduled activities....including a Drum Cafe at 7:30--the kids loved that. DH and I do not have children but I enjoyed watching the children beat their hearts out. Many times mid early morning the animals were not out--came out more around 10ish...but there are lots of viewing areas with rocking chairs and CMS to give information.

Have a blast......I am counting the days to our May trip.
