I have a reservation at VWL for August, but also have a waitlist for AKV-K. Now that some people have stayed at Kidani and are able to compare, what are your thoughts? Is Kidani worth the wait, or should I just cancel the waitlist and stick with VWL? What if we're talking AKV-J compared to VWL?

I'm taking friends that have never been to WDW, and I want it to be a good trip for them. Is the newness of the resort and the nearness of the animals enough to make-up for the lack of counter-service and the distance from everything else around 'the world'? I know it's all personal preference, but it's always good to hear from experience.

we just got back last fri from 2 nts jambo 1 nt kidani 5 nt bwv. While jambo and kidani are very nice we would rather of stayed at VWL the 1st 3 nts.
We did enjoy ourselves AKV but it's just to far from the action.
will we stay there again, don't think so but you never know.
this is JMO:goodvibes

Being far away is part of my concern. THANKS for your input. Anybody else wanna chime in??

Hmm ... I think both resorts are a bit "out of the way". That is their charm. I think that I would go with VWL for a first-time guest over AKV. The resort is pretty without being all spread out and you have easy access to the MK by boat. If you want to see the animals then why not book dinner at AKV instead?

We stayed at Kidani Village last week as well as Vero Beach Resort, Saratoga Springs, and Beach Club. Out of the 4 we loved Kidani Village the best. Maybe it was because it was newer, but it was amazing.

We also thought that the pool area was better than Beach Club's. Now while it was nice being closer to every thing, we loved Kidani the best.

So that's my vote :).

I know you can walk to Epcot, DTD and MK from some resorts but saying AKV is far away....you make it sound like you need a whole day to get anywhere!!!
We just returned from AKL, we stayed at Kidani village. The busses are fantastic. 95% of the time we waited less than 5 minutes for a bus. The longest ride was to MK. I think it took 17 minutes. That's not really far away.
I think seeing the animals outside your room, or from many overlooks at the resort, will give you the WOW factor I don't think any other resort can give!!!!
