Hi,

We (in the last week) have just become NEW DVC OWNERS-:cool1: at AK Villas(Jambo).

Its my DH FIRST EVER VISIT TO DISNEY so I want to make it 'special'!

We are in the process of planning for next year and currently looks like we can only go in the PREMIER SEASON.

Sooooo-My question is? Is the Savannah DVC STUDIO room WORTH the extra points over the STANDARD STUDIO?

Whats the difference?

Does anyone know EXACTLY where?? these rooms are located ie are the 'en-bloc' somewhere at AKL/AKV or are they spread around the resort buildings?

My holiday will cost me an extra 80 points for the Savannah Studio room, hence reason I'm asking *** if theres not much difference between the 2 rooms, I may be better off saving these points and trying to get 2 holidays next year instead of one???

Dont want to end up in a room with a tiny balcony overlooking the parkng lot!! That'd definitely put DH off gioing back again!!:moped:

Thanks for any help/comparisons/pics you can assist me with;)

Regards

This thread talks about the different rooms and Post 30 has the general configuration of Jambo and also there are some pictures of the views from different rooms.

Personally, I have had a savannah view room on the arusha savannah and it was wonderful, definitely worth the points. We have also had a value studio on the sunset savannah, and we didn't see as many animals, but we saw some, but the points for a value room are a bargain to us, especially on the weekends.

In Jambo, a standard view can only be a pool view, but some of the pool views are very nice and there is even some animals that people have seen in the background. You may very well chose to save the points, and go with a standard view in Jambo. Best wishes as you make your decision. I haven't had a standard view yet, and probably won't. I either will go for savannah, or value depending on how flush I feel with points.

Just wanted to add that while the view is different between those two booking categories the rooms themselves are identical: same size, same furnishings. With the Savanna View you are paying extra for the privilege of seeing animals from the balcony of your room. With a Standard View you will be looking at the pool (Jambo House) or pool, garden or parking lot (Kidani Village) and will have to go to one of the public viewing areas to see the animals.

Do either of you know how high up the DVC rooms are at Jambo House ie on which floors?
DH is a 'light' sleeper and I know noise from the pool would definitely annoy him-especially if it was late at night when all he wanted to do was sit out on the balcony and 'chill' with some wine!!

Looks like Savannah Rm may just 'swing it' for us this time BUT am told lots of work continuing on Kidani Village so for April next year may be lots of construction noise etc to contend with too???If that was the case, i'd go for the value studio and keep my points for the following year.

Any advice/info re the building works and their affect on Jambo /noise etc would be greatly appreciated.

regards

The DVC rooms in Jambo House (the Lodge building) are on the 5th and 6th floors. The 6th floor is Concierge, all other booking levels are on the 5th floor.

We got back last night from a week in a Arusha Savannah view 1 BR. The extra points for the view were so worth it. The whole reason my family wanted to stay at AKV was the animal factor. Before we left I had requested Arusha or Uzima so we could avoid the construction noise/view/lack of animals. The resort is beautiful. Have a great trip!

I am not only anal but frugal. I would save the points and use them to book a savanna view when I could go during a cheaper season. 80 points extra is a lot in my book (that's about 1/3 of our total points). However if you have the points to burn then go for it. We would not be able to do it tho because we would be trying to get more than one trip / year. I would take the gamble on the cheaper room and just ask for pool or savanna view at check-in if they're available. But that's me....The resort is gorgeous and the rooms are awesome....so it WILL be a special trip for your DH.

(We stayed at AKL the first year it was open...paid for a deluxe savanna view or whatever they called it. Ended up seeing like 1 giraffe all week. For us, on that particular trip it was not worth the extra cost. You just never know.)
