AKV - Jambo or Kidani....

We are renting points and I'm not sure how it works in regard to AKV. We will be in a 2 br. Do you request the one you want or are they randomly assigned. We are requesting the standard view.

You would request either Kidani Village or Jambo House for your reservation. After that, it would be randomly assigned.

You should let them know if you prefer Jambo or Kidani. Both Jambo and Kidani offer [1] savannah view or [2] standard view.

Jambo has 2 additional categories which are Congerice / Club level and also value. Just an fyi....the value category rooms are a little smaller since they were converted from hotel rooms into DVC villas. They are less points so they are harder to get.

Jambo has a quick service restaurnat, The Mara, a table service buffet, Boma and a signature restaurnat , Jiko.

Kidani has a table service restaurant, Sanaa.

Both has great pools but most people seem to prefer the Kidani pool.

A Jambo 2BR will only have 2 bathrooms (and the master bedroom is separated from a bathroom by a small hallway, plus that bathroom will have the shower in the Jacuzzi tub. Unlike other DVC's there is no seperate vanity in the bedroom area)

Kidani will have a 3 bathrooms (better for a large group getting ready). Kidani also has dedicated and lockoff 2 B R's. (Lockoff is a 1BR+Studio. Dedicated should have 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom). Jambo only has lockoffs. Dedicated/lockoff is a booking category like Kidani/Jambo.

Thanks so much for all of the info! It is so helpful. We are trying to decide b/w AKV and BLT. I love the thought of staying at a monorail resort. I've always wanted to do that, BUT it would cost us $1000 more. I just don't know if it is really worth it. We spend a lot of time in the parks. There are 6 of us....3 adults and 3 girls (3, 7, and 10).

Jambo:
large impressive lobby, larger gift shop
busier atmosphere
larger pool, wimpy slide (IMHO)
steam room in workout area
counter service at Mara
value and concierge rooms
rooms retrofitted from existing hotel rooms
Master bath has shower/jetted tub combo plus toilet in one room (toilet is split off)
Parking in lots
Bus to DTD first stop
Rooms on 5th floor, except for 5 2br lockoffs on 6th for concierge

Kidani:
smaller, more intimate lobby and gift shop
quieter atmosphere
splash area at pool, and better slide (IMHO)
rooms designed for DVC
extra bath in one and two bedrooms
separate shower and jetted tub in master bath
community hall
Under building parking
Park buses first stop
Rooms on floors 2 through 5

Thanks for all your help! We have decided to switch to Kidani...with the extra space and bathroom I think it's our best choice for an 11 night stay. We're cooking a lot in our room too, so the restaurants shouldn't be too big of a factor. Thanks again for all the great advice!

Good call. We just stayed at Kidani for marathon weekend and loved it. The decor is phenomenal and the pool is very fun! Not a bad walk from Jambo in case you want a change of pool or quick service meal at The Mara
