I think we're planning to stay at AKV in 2011 as DVC Members...Just wondering what's the difference between Jambo House and Kidani Village, also what's the food situation at each of them? Is it a distance to walk to get there?

I think we're planning to stay at AKV in 2011 as DVC Members...Just wondering what's the difference between Jambo House and Kidani Village,

jambo is the 5th floor (and a few rooms on 6th for concierge) of the old AKL hotel. kidani is a new building across from it.

here's a map.

also what's the food situation at each of them?

jambo has the buffet boma and upscale dinner at jiko. also a counter service at mara near the main pool.

kidani has sanaa and that's about it.

Is it a distance to walk to get there?

depends on where your room is, i guess... :confused3

...and kidani has no breakfast

Sanaa is lunch and diner only.

Much larger 1BRs and 2BRs at Kidani, studios are about the same size; Kidani 1BRs have 2 bathrooms (thus 3 in the 2BR). Kidani has smaller, but very good pool, and it has the kids' recreational area. Jambo has the advantage on restaurants as noted above since Kidani has only a table service restaurant. Walk from front door to front door of two buildings is about 10 minutes (just under 1/2 mile). Actual walk depends on where your room is. If in south wing of Kidani near end of wing, can exit nearby and short walk to Jambo, if in end of north wing of Kidani, you will have longest walk to Jambo since that wing is 1/4 mile long and thus huge walk just to Kidani lobby before even exiting to walk to Jambo. Busses to parks stop at Kidani first, bus to Downtown Disney stops at Jambo first.

The food selection is much better at Jambo, especially Mara for a quick and easy meal. Kidani only has Sanaa (including its room service menu), and the food selection in the store is minimal (cereal, milk, bread). On the other hand, Kidani is very intimate. Jambo feels big and bustling, including the large lobby. Kidani feels more like you have the place to yourself, including a smaller lobby and sitting areas overlooking the savanna. Ditto for the pools -- Jambo has a big pool with lots of people, Kidani's is smaller, and is much more personal and laid back.
