AKV Jambo House Value Rooms

And pool views aren't so bad. We were in studio 5014 and had a roof, pool, and mostly tree view. The nearby elevator made up for it and we used the pool and hot tub more than on any other visit. Plus there is that extra key-coded door when the buses drop you off. It's before the Marketplace, and we were zipped up to our room in no time at all.

"Extra key-coded door"? Tell me more please. In all the times I've stayed there (and I've stayed in 5014 once!), I never knew about this. I think I vaguely remember some door between the bus stop and going in to the gift shop, but I never knew where that door went, so I never took it. Nor did I ever see anyone use it, so I was kind of hesitant to try. Is that where you mean? Will that door take me by the elevator?

Simba's Mom: Yes. IIRC there are a few steps, insert your KTTW card, and there you are on the 2nd floor mini-lobby right by the elevator. It is so convenient when you are tired from walking in the parks! :goodvibes

So, I understand that 1 bedroom value villas are not allowing requests for a savannah view. So, since there are only approx. 10 of these suites, how does DISNEY decide who gets the pool, parking lot or savannah?pixiedust: There must be a protocol? First come to the resort first serve? Or alphabetical 4 days in advance? Or anyone who thought of requesting doesn't get it?

What's your take Disney obsessors?

It all depends on the availability and the number of nights you will be staying at the time of check-in.

I have a value studio booked the week before christmas....I really don't care what view I have, I am just excited to be going to Disney!

Since someone recently revived this thread, I saw this.
I stayed on Giraffe Trail for the first time earlier this month.
I had noticed the door you speak of before on previous trips, but was never on Giraffe Trail before. So I tried it. It didn't work with my RFID room card. I asked a CM who came by about that time, and she had no idea where it went, and didn't think anyone could use it, not even CMs.:rotfl:
(Just your basic forbidden, but not hidden, door.)
It certainly looked like a shortcut, just like you describe.
I loved staying on Giraffe Trail, and the elevator so close, and ice too.
