AKV info

We stayed at AKL back in 2006 and we said then we would never go back to this resort. We found the CM's grumpy and rude and although it's a beautiful resort we thought it lacked atmosphere.

We have decided to try the villas in May 2009 are we doing the right thing. DS loved animals and now he is a few years older we hope he will appreciate it more

I've got an Interval request in for a week at AKV, but I'm not sure I really want to get it as much as OKW or SSR. You're right, it is a fantastic building and the grounds are superb. it just doesn't seem as relaxing and peaceful as OKW. Never stayed at SSR but I get the impression it's a similar atmosphere to OKW.

We loved AKL so much in April that we had no hesitation in buying DVC points there. I think it is possible to find grumpy and rude cast members anywhere in WDW so I wouldn't necessarily hold that against a particular resort.

This is what I posted about AKL after our 3 night stay last month, We absolutely loved the 3 nights with a savanah view but 3 nights was enough, next year planning 2 nights. I definitely wouldn't say grumpy & rude but certainly not welcoming. For the price I expected more 'Magic' for my money but for us no reason to stay onsite again apart for the savanah view.
You won't know until you have done it if you have done the right thing.

No unfortunatley still prefer offsite, just dont get the "Disney Magic". We were there 3 days and apart from DVC rep trying to get us to go on tour and a cast member taking our photo we were not spoken to in the 3 days. Very large overpowering, impersonal IMHO.

Wickesy I know what you mean about grumpy CM's everywhere but I think the staff at AKL were having a bad week.

I really hope we enjoy the resort this time as I am trying to convince DH we need DVC. We love to stay at the GF so it had never been an option before but I reckon it would be an investment for the kids I have rented some points for this stay and have also rented points for our Jan stay at SSR. Just need to brainwash DH
