Oh, I wish I could figure out the codes on the availibilty thread. I don't want to do it wrong.
Anyways,
NOTHING available for Dec 6-10. Not even one of those nights. No studios or 1-BR, no views, nothing.
Not Jambo or Kidani.
Wow.
I see that they are taking reservations for non-DVC, but not for DVC members. That doesn't necessarily bother me, but I think they should wait until opening it up to non-DVC.
Oh well. I will be happy at SSR, and everyone else will have to adjust!

Something is going on that weekend--maybe Pop Warner. We got in at OKW, but have a one-bedroom rather than a studio. I guess we'll have to suck it up and enjoy the big tub;-)

I'm near Pittsburgh, too, BTW--little Washington.

Did you waitlist for another resort. We were at SSR last year Dec. 11 - 18. That was the only resort we could get and did waitlist for ALL other resorts. Ours didn't come through but it can't hurt to try.

There are 3 rooms in this situation. Two studios and 1br.
I can only waitlist for 2 of them, and I don't want to do that.
I like SSR, and considering I am letting everyone else stay on my points, they can darn well like it too!

That is crazy! I just called yesterday to try and book a studio AKV Kidani for Dec 2-8. I was able to get a couple of the days (2, 4 &5), so I took them and waitlisted the others. I also booked the days that are waitlisted at SSR. I hope the wait list comes through - I certainly don't want to bounce back and forth. I still have plenty of time until then. If i can't get the days I need, I will just switch the whole reservation to SSR. So excited for my trip!

That's so strange... we just booked the week of Christmas... it must be Pop Warner then, as a previous poster mentioned. :confused3 Good luck!

Not all the villas are owned by DV members. At least 5% of them are owned by DVC for breakage. As long as AKV isn't sold out (and I don't think it is), you will always find AKVs for rent on DRC and not available for points stays.

You'll find the same thing with BLT. Anything not sold by DVC can be rented through DRC.

what is going on that week??? we are booked in a 2 br at SSR and have BCV waitlisted, but don't understand why nothing is available at all...what is the policy w/ Disney as far as holding rooms for cash res.. is there a certain date out that if not sold, they will offer them to DVC?

Just one of the most popular weeks for DVC members in the entire calendar.

it's funny you say that b/c we have gone in dec of '05 & '06 and had no problem making a res and the parks really weren't that crowded either. :confused3

We called today as we own at SSR and were able to get a savannah view studio at Jambo for 8th-15th Dec.

Still hoping to swap some of those nights for our favourite resort though, BCV.:cloud9:

This weekend is extremely popular. Last year it was just as tough. Last year, I booked at 11 months-a couple of days and I had to waitlist for the Sunday night at AKV. I ended up switching resorts at 7 months (wanted to try out BCV & BWV) and ended up waitlisting right up to the end. I ended up doing a split BWV/SSR/BCV stay. This year with the new rules, I called at 11 months and was able to book almost all of my stay. I then called back a couple of days later to complete my reservation. About a month ago I decided to add a day and I was able to get a 1 BR at Kidani. (My trip is 12/4-12/15).

I'm with you. If they are using your points, then they should be happy at which ever resort you book.

The first 2 weeks of December are extremely popular for DVC. Last year, at one point, I was at 4 resorts. I finally ended up getting down to 3 resorts, but it was crazy.

Popular times for DVC members are not always the same times that the parks are crowded. In fact, relatively uncrowded parks is one of the reasons that early December is so popular, LOL. Add to that all of the beautiful decorations and holiday activities, the various internet meets, the cooler, but still nice weather and the DVC annual meetings. (I really do not think Pop Warner has any impact on DVC reservations. Those groups stay mostly at the All Star resorts and a few at the moderates).

IMHO, early December is getting more and more difficult to get a reservation at a non-home resort. SSR is now sold out (except for some THV points). That added many new members anxious to try other resorts. AKV Jambo & Kidani and now BLT are also having (or will have) an impact. All 3 (SSR, BLT, AKV) are (or will be) among the larger DVC resorts. There just isn't room at VWL, BCV, and BWV for all the members who want to stay there during early December, especially since many VWL, BCV & BWV owners prefer to "stay home" during that time.

Most experienced "early December" DVC members book their home resort at 11 months and those who want to stay at a non-home resort call exactly 7 months prior to check in as soon as MS opens for the day. Some will always "get lucky", but there will be many more who are not lucky and end up staying at their home resort. If you bought where you don't mind staying, that's not a big deal.
