We decided to purchase DVC at the Aulani event in Pasadena in July right when they stopped selling Aulani. We decided at that time to purchase 100 pts at AKV and then a small contract at Aulani when that was again available for sale. Meanwhile we found out what the issue was at Aulani and the now increased dues and are rethinking our decision to purchase there.

Meanwhile, we found out today that our AKV contract (due to close Aug 30) was still not closed so I called QA. They could not figure out the issue and said they put in a message to upper management and would get back to me. I got a call back saying hat because I said I also was interested in purchasing Aulani points, my AKV contract wont close till Aulani is again available for sale!!!

I don't understand why one is dependent on the other, since they would be separate contracts! Is it maybe because the 100 pts is under the minimum? Since there is nothing in writing in any way committing me to the Aulani purchase what happens to the AKV contract if we choose not to accept the higher costs involved? I'd rather purchase additional points at one of the WDW DVC resorts to make up my minimum!

Also, I have a trip scheduled on points for Nov. 17th. Given the situation, I may not be closed by then but they said I could still go on the trip. That does not make sense!!!

Sorry you got caught in the Aulani issues.

I think you should call your guide and confirm that the Aulani issue is the reason for the delay. He/She may also know about when they can legally resume selling Aulani in California.

If you really want something else or don't want to wait for Aulani, ask the guide to cancel the Aulani portion and redo the contracts with the number of points and home resort(s) you prefer. Shouldn't be a problem since you haven't closed yet.

Good luck!

Hopefully they're holding things up to get you "grandfathered in" with the lower Aulani dues that you were promised. If you want to buy Aulani, I would make the lower dues they agreed to sell you a condition of both deals.

If they don't give it to you, you can buy AKV resale and save a bunch of money.

[ETA: I also think QA will be more helpful than your DVC timeshare salesman. They don't really have much authority, but QA does.]
