My husband received a phone call this morning to tell us they needed to change our reservation for a concierge studio on October 11th due to construction. Has anyone else been called regarding this?

My poor husband is very confused. I make all the reservations and did these online because I am deployed to Iraq otherwise I would be taking care of this myself. We had a concierge studio for the 11th and waitlisted for the 12th. We have a 1BR at WLV the rest of the week, including the 12th.

They offered him a savannah view Kilamajaro(sorry I don't know the spelling) with access to the concierge lounge charging only the points for the savannah view. But, isn't there quite a distance between the main lodge and the villas? If so, this doesn't sound convenient. He took this offer not knowing what to do. Another option was, I think, a WL room again with concierge access - not sure if it was a studio or regular room. Arghh - and the first night was booked on borrowed points. With the decrease in points, I am sure the leftover ones are sitting in the account again needing to be adjusted.

This is their first trip back to DW since March 2007 and first without me. I was hoping for him to start the trip out without stress and a little extra pampering. Now, this happens. I'm ticked but trying to keep things in perspective.

Personally if it were me, I would ask to be moved to VWL 1 bedroom with access to the concierge lounge. Those are in 2 different buildings, but it may be less stressful to not have to move.
That way he will not have to move after 1 night and since he is not getting the full exposure to DVC Concierge at AKV, I would just save that experience for another trip.

At AKV, he would still be in the main lodge, but on a different floor and closer to the ends of the building where the Non-DVC concierge guests stay. They have better views of the savannah from the ends.

Member services can help you with any point issues this change causes. They can even un-borrow them if there are any left.

Thank you for your service and I hope they work things out for you.:wizard:

If he really wants AKV Concierge, take the room they are offering for standard points and free access to the lounge. That is not much different than what we had a few years ago when we did the AKL Concierge (not villas). We were on the 5th floor with Arusha savanna and had access to the lounge on the 6th floor.

The new building (Kidani Village) won't open until sometime in May 09.

If he took WL with concierge, he'd be in the main building, not the villas. No concierge in the villas at VWL.

I would definitely do this. Right now all the villas are in the main lodge (Animal Kingdom Lodge) as the new villa construction isn't finished yet. As long as you have access to the concierge lounge I really think you will be pleased with the room and the view.

Thank you for your suggestions. He decided to keep the savannah room with the extra concierge services. It won't be as convenient as it might have been and it isn't a studio but the kids really want to see the animals since we haven't stayed there in a few years. The points have been adjusted as well. I had been hoping a second night that we were waitlisted for would come through but that option is completely out now. Oh well...it probably would not have come through anyways.

I was looking at another thread regardling AKV Concierge and I suspect that they won't get the easy check-in, turn-down service, or towel animals, right?

Has anyone heard of any upcoming construction or others getting moved? Call me suspicious, but I feel cheated.

They will have club level checkin and turn down. Towel animals are not a part of concierge experience. They are hit or miss at the deluxe hotels and villas in our experience.

Thanks for your service!:flower3:
