AKV- Anyone book for sept. 2009 yet?

Hi all! I am waiting for my 7 month window to open up in Feb. for a sept. trip. I am just curious if anyone has booked AKV for mid sept. I am hoping to get a value 2 bedroom. Anyone stayed in one of those? The availibility thread doesn't show any days filled yet (except for concierge) but I am getting so anxious to book and nervous that when i call they will be all taken since there aren't many! But maybe with Kidani open by then that will be the pull.....here's hoping! If anyone had booked Jambo house for after Kidani is open have you asked if DVC member who stay at Jambo can use the Kidani pool if desired? Oh...one more question....if anyone has stayed at both AKV and OKW can you tell me how the pools compared to each other? Thanks so much!!!!!

We'll be there 20-26 September, in a concierge 1BR. Can't wait - AKV is one of our home resorts and we absolutely love it!

Well I don't know if it helps any or not but I was able to switch my reservation last week from 8/25 to 8/30 to a two bedroom value. No September but close.

We booked last week for our trip the week of 12-19 November. We got a standard view studio at Kidani for 12-18 Nov and requested studio concierge rooms at Jambo for the night of 18 Nov as we want to do the Sunrise Safari the next morning. There were no concierge studios available for that night so we had to take a 1-bedroom and be put on the list for a studio.
My sister, who is also traveling at the same time, had to go on a waitlist just to get a 1-bedroom concierge but it came through a few days ago.
Concierge rooms always fill up fast.

Good luck - you should be able to get that 2-bedroom value villa with no problem as September isn't one of the busier times at WDW.

I am also waiting for the 7 month window to open for 9/17. We ideally wanted a studio concierge, which will never happen, but are praying for a savannah view studio at least - what are the chances?

I understand you can use both swimming pools-we've stayed at OKW and I think the pool area has a tropical feel to it-nice slide for the kids, shade if you want it, plenty of sunny areas if you don't. We stayed at AKL a few years ago (staying this August as owners!) and I thought the pool area had a very restful atmosphere-nice backround music, animals nearby. The food court has an outdoor patio which we really liked. I don't remember anything about the slide, but I think there is one. We were there in September on that trip and never thought things felt crowded. I hope you get your 2BR-I can't imagine with Kidani open there won't be one available. Good luck!

If you call at exactly your 11 month window (home resort) at exactly 9AM for a trip in the end of July...is it still impossible to get concierge?

Forgot to mention in my previous post that the Uzima pool at AKL is really nice. It has a zero entry so it feels like you're at the beach and it gradually gets deeper as you walk in, compared to using steps at OKW to enter the pool. I think Uzima is also larger. We enjoyed having patio tables and chairs fairly close to the pool at OKW, while AKL just has lounge chairs around it unless you are close to the pool bar where there are some tables and chairs. Both pools are nice, but we prefer Uzima at AKL, it has a more natural feel to it and is larger.

Thanks for your opinion on the pool Bev! I am so anxious to get my reservation made! My kids loved the pool at OKW and talk about going back there so I hope that they will like the AKV pool as well. I'm trying to space the vaca so we can spend a full day (or maybe two) at the resort to enjoy everything it has to offer but I am one of those who tends to overbook....always on the go!!! There is just so much to do at disney....our last stay was 14 days and I wish it could've been longer than that!! I think 3 weeks would be my ideal length!
