Well today is the day we are heading off to visit AKV for the first time :yay: After a brief panic last night shortly after going to bed the fire alarm went off, the culprit was the electric socket air freshener! We then slept until the alarm clocks went off! As we were travelling with DBIL and DSIL who lived in Devon they had travelled up the night before and stayed overnight with us. At 6am it was time to head to Gatwick with DMIL driving Nathan and I up, whilst DBIL and DSIL drove their car up so they could then head straight home when we got back. We arrived at Gatwick just on 7am and were checked in just after 7.30am. A nice touch with PE now is that you get Fast Track access through passport control :thumbsup2 Once in the departure lounge we headed for the Clubhouse Lounge. First priority was to book treatments :) Nathan, DBIL and I booked a massage and DSIL booked a manicure. We then followed this by breakfast with me having my usual champagne and smoked salmon with scrambled egg.

Nathan had a bacon roll with orange juice and pot of tea.

It was then time for some shopping and I got the usual water and sweets for the flight. Upon our return I could see our plane ready and waiting.

Once again the massages were well worth the entrance fee alone :thumb: We then had a further drink and were then boarding the plane shortly after 10.30am. Take off was at dead on midday and the arrival time was about 10 minutes later than scheduled. So first it was drinks as we just left the UK over Wales.

It was soon lunchtime and Nathan as usual declined to eat his main meal but I still asked him to order the BBQ chicken and I wasn’t sure what I wanted and the cheese pasta also sounded nice!

I must say the pasta tasted great and the bbq chicken also had a great flavour :teeth:

It was then time to settle for a while watching the skymap and then ice cream!

The time seemed to drag for a while but once we could see land over South Carolina we knew Florida was not far away!

We landed about 10 minutes late which was good going :) It was then straight off the plane and into an empty Immigration hall and then the wait for the luggage which came off really quickly. For once we weren’t stopped at Customs for the extra bag check, so it was then bag drop before heading to the main terminal. Although once we got to the main terminal we hit a snag as the bags took so long to get there about 25 minutes in all!!!!!!!! Time to collect the car we thought, opps, another problem! The key would not stay attached to the key ring and alarm as part of the plastic fob had broken and it was the only key. The collection desk had no spare so after a few minutes of negotiations we got another vehicle a Jeep Commander! So we were finally on our way to WDW.

Upon arrival we were allocated rooms at opposite sides of the lodge! After some sorting out they got us a bit closer as by now time was catching up with me. The room we had was lovely although the lack of hanging space caused some concern initially.

The view from the room was good although as we were the top floor could just see over the trees to Osceola Parkway and in the distance Summit Plummit at Blizzard Beach!

After unpacking it was time to get some food so we got pizza/flatbreads in the Mara and purchased our refillable mugs, Nathan and I also had a Bud Lite each :drinking: It was then time to head off for some much need sleep.

Claire ;)

Great start. It looks like your room was almost exactly where ours was in April this year.

I think this is the first time I've seen inside an AKL/AKV room. So glad you included these pictures with your report.

The Studio at AKV looks lovely - I hope we'll get to stay there before too much longer.
