I am planning on renting points for our trip next year 10/1-10/11/09. I was wondering what the differnece between the Sav View studio and the Conc. level studio are? Is it just the normal Conc perks? Will I be able to do the Sunrise safari? Also are the balconies bigger? Thanks for the help.

Concierge is like concierge perks everywhere, but don't expect to get it as a renter unless you are renting exactly at the 11 month window.

Are the rooms the same? And the balcony sizes are they the same as a studio? I only ask becasue we were watching a video on the AKLV and the balcony they showed was huge. Not like the ones I saw in the pics here. Thanks

Keep in mind that you are not guaranteed a view of a savanna when you book concierge - not all of the concierge rooms overlook a savanna.

In fact, only 2 of the concierge level rooms are savanna view, and one of those is also handicapped accessible.

The Concierge rooms are in Jambo House. The studios are identical to the Savanna View and Standard View studios in Jambo House. (Jambo's Value studios are smaller.) The Savanna View studios in Kidani Village are laid out a bit differently but are similar in size.

There are only five 2BR lockoffs in Concierge. If they rent out one as a 2BR that leaves 4 studios and 4 1BRs. If they rent out two as 2BRs that leaves 3 studios and 3 1BRs. As you can imagine, with only 3 or 4 studios available they are difficult to book. Three of the 2BR lockoffs face the Sunset Savanna, the other two face the pool area. The savanna views from the Concierge rooms are not the best because the tree tops block part of the already limited view of the Sunset Savanna.

You get the usual concierge perks plus daily housekeeping and turndown service which you do not get with any other DVC stay. As a Concierge guest, you can book the Sunrise Safari which is only available to concierge guests. The price is $55/adult, $27.50/child under 10.

So it would be better to try and just get a regular Sav view room? It's all about the view for us not the perks of conc level. We did an "all out trip" back in 05' where we spent 17 nights in a sav room. We LOVED it. I would like to surprise my fmaily w/ this trip. And want to make sure I get a great room. I know anything would be good. But our DD really loved watching the animals and I'd like a nice room. Thanks for all the help.

If you care more about the view than the perks then you would be better off with a Savanna View room. Having said that, the views from some Savanna View rooms are better than others. If you book a Jambo House Savanna View room and you happen to get assigned a room directly below the Concierge rooms, your view will be only marginally better since you would have the same limited view of the Sunset Savanna but would be on the 5th floor rather than the 6th floor so there will be less of a problem with the tree tops blocking part of the view. On the other hand, you could end up further out along the horseshoe where the views are more expansive which is not an option in Concierge. If you book a Kidani Village Savanna View room you could end up on a lower floor where you would have a better view of the animals. Since Kidani isn't open yet, none of us can tell you exactly what your view will be like. Most of the Kidani SV rooms will face an expanded Sunset Savanna but some rooms will face the new, smaller Pembe Savanna that will open in Sep 2009.

You mentioned the balconies looking huge on the video, I'm not sure what you were looking at but I'm not sure I would use that term to describe the balcony of a studio. Your balcony will be maybe 12 feet wide and 3 feet deep, identical to the balcony of the 5th floor rooms in AKL prior to the DVC conversion and maybe slightly larger than the balconies on the rooms on the 4th and lower floors. I'm wondering if you were looking at a balcony for a 1BR villa which would be twice as wide since those balconies are the width of two AKL rooms.

That must be what we were seeing the 1br balcony. Thanks for the help. I can't remember our room # from our trip but we were on the 4th floor about half way down the hall. The view was amazing!
