AKL vs SSR

We(myself, DW, DS) are looking to book a last minute vacation in may. So far my last 3 trips to Disney were all off site 79,06,07. We are thinking of renting points from a DVC member and staying in either the AKL or SSR. Anyone have feelings one way or the next? We well have our son who will be 9 months when we go. Im sure there is an old thread about the two but damn if I can find it.

SSR is out by DTD.

AKV is also far from the MK.

of the two - they are probably about even in time to get to the MK. - which with a 9 month old.

the pool at SSR wins. (donald duck)

but both have zero entry. here are pictures

now since the pictures on the dis have refused to acknowledge that AKV exist - go to the DVC planning for pictures.

Both good chioces, but don't overlook the BWV.

DVC members often book rooms 11 months out. AKL/V is still under construction so rooms will be considerably more limited, while SSR is complete and a larger resort...i think if anything is available, SSR is more likely.

in general, DVC bookings (whether for rental or as an owner) can be very difficult (although not impossible) to make at the last minute.

I vote for AKL. I would love to stay there. I just returned from SSR and it was ok but I wasn't such a fan. The resort is huge and spread out. The theming in AKL is better. Your son might like the animals, I can't think of anything at SSR for him.

I'd pick AKV over SSR any day.

I just came back from the AKL villas ~ hands down without batting an eye, the AKL....just cannot be beat! This resort is just so beautiful!!!!! It is NOT a long ride to MK. I timed it twice ~ 8 minutes both times. I do not find that to long at all!

Thanks for all your help gang. My DVC buddy was able to get us a room at SSR for may 3-9. AKL wasnt available.

i love the animals and restaurants at AKV, but stayed at SSR in dec 2006 and thought it was terrific. we stayed on the congress park side of the paddocks and liked the easy walk to the buses at DTD to get to the resorts (but if you get a chance, you should still go to AKV for a meal and to check out the savannahs.)

You will love SSR. Lots of activites and the pool is great for baies with zero entry. The ride to Magic Kingdom is also 8 minutes. Have fun.
