We just got back from a two night stay at the Poly concierge. Room 3504, Hawaii bldg. The view from the third floor across the lagoon was really spectacular. The fireworks over the castle from our balcony was a nice touch.

The room was larger than the AKL room....but older. The bathroom was larger.

I really didn't like the walk to the back of the resort, it wasn't anything major, just not as easy as going up the elevator and walking 100' of hallway, as we did at the AKL.

The concierge staffs at both resorts were similar. We only had two nights this time, so I didn't use them much, but they more than went out of their way to make sure that anything they could do got done.

Food offerings, sorry Tikiman, but the AKL was way, way, better. They only had oatmeal, plus the usual danishes, bagels, english muffins cereal, etc....the AKL had two or three hot cereal choices. the mid-day and late night offerings were the same, cookies and gummy worms. They only had milk or orange juice in the morning, AKL had several choices. We just cought the end of on dinner night, it seemed that all they had was chicken nuggets or eggrolls, AKL had four choices each and every night.

While the view and monorail were really great, O'hanna's good and that rain forest lobby was beautiful, our next concierge stay will most likely be at the AKL.

Hi!
Glad you had such a nice stay!! I think I may of liked this resort better (even with teh not so friendly staff and need for rehab) If I had maybe had a room witht he view of the castle maybe that makes this resort special.

I think they both have something great to offer. I like the Polynesian for it's location and the AKL for relaxation. The AKL has a much better selection of food IMO, but it usually cost more than a GV concierge room (which we stay in) at the Polynesian:D

No need to apologize to me. I agree that the food at the AKL was great but I felt in some things the Polynesian offered more. At least when we where there last July and every other July. I have never seen the lounge offer just egg rolls and chicken nuggets. Maybe they were already out of stuff. The reports that have been emailed to me lately say the menu has been very close to what I posted on my web page. I think the AKL and the Polynesian have some of the best food in the lounges and in the restaurants in all of WDW. The only other place at a resort we think is worth a visit every time is the Flying Fish.

Thanks for the report.

Aloha

Steve

Rich - I'm glad to see that you're back and enjoyed your stay at the Poly. We're trying AKL concierge next month, partly because of your glowing review from your past stay. I've only stayed at the Poly and GF RPC for a concierge stay and anxiously await our AKL concierge stay. I felt a little responsible for you Poly stay, since I had posted so glowing about our Poly stay when you were questioning the Poly. I hope our stay at AKL is as great as yours. We're probably now going back to WDW this summer, and I'm hoping a concierge stay in is order that that trip. DH wants to save money and is looking at CBR, but if AKL is as wonderful as you say it is, maybe I'll be there in July!!! We'll have to wait a month to see. Thanks for you report, it makes me so much more excited for our AKL concierge stay in less than one month!!!!
