AKL Villas questions

I am so intrigued by these-are they completed yet and open to the public?

I don't think I've seen any photos of these or noticed anyone's post about staying in one. Anyone out there?

Also, question about villas in general-are these free standing or are they basically just large (and/or 2 floor) hotel rooms?

and do the AKL villas have their own separate savannah?

Would love to see any photos, descriptions, reviews-TIA!

Currently, the completed villas are on the 5th and 6th floors of the 6 story AKL. There are studios (1 Q plus full-size pull out sofa) 1 BRs (Q in master plus Q pull-out sofa in living room) 2 bedrooms (K master and 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom and a Q pull-out sofa and sleeper chair in the living area). There will be lock-off 2 br villas, which is a 1 br + a studio in Kidani Village (a whole new section separate from AKL with it's own pool, savannah and restaurants) KV is scheduled to be completed in 2009. The villas have laundry and kitchenette, but are basically hotel rooms There are also Grand Villas which will sleep up to 12 You can reserve the villas on the DW web-site, but they're pretty popular right now and are mostly reserved by DVCers

We made a reservation for a 2 BR Savannah view Villa in July 2008. The room we have is in the Jambo House and is a 1 BR Villa with a connecting room.

There are two separate areas for the AKV. Currently they are booking stays at the Jambo House. This is where they have taken existing rooms in the existing AK building and changed them to villas for the DVC.

They are currently constructing the Kidani House. This will be a separate building which will house more DVC. Reservations there are expected to be available in 2009.

The one bedroom villas have a king sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room and some have a twin sized sleeper chair in the living room. One bedroom and larger have regular kitchens and a stackable washer and dryer. Studios have kitchenettes and access to a laundry room. All the lockoff two bedrooms in Jambo House will not have tqo queen beds in the second bedroom. They are nothing more than a studio and one bedroom with the door opened between them. Dedicated two bedrooms will have two queen sized beds in the second bedroom.

The villas in Jambo House (AKL) are converted deluxe rooms. The one bedrooms and larger do not have the additional bathroom like the ones in Kidani Village will have.

When Kidani Village is completed it will really be one big building with wings. There will be a counter service and table service restaurant and a themed pool. Plus a second bus stop for the resort.

It's me, DH, DD and our mothers, which is why I wanted 2 Q beds in the 2nd br. With only one Q and a pull-out, it's not fair for one to be in the bed and one in the pull-out!

The dedicated 2 br units will only be available in 2009 when Kidiani Village opens. In Jambo house, there are only lockoff 2 bedrooms, which are a studio connected to a 1 br. Also, not all 2 br in Kidiani will be dedicated, I'm sure it will be a mixture between lockoffs and dedicated units.... Sorry
