AKL Update 7/12

I think Disney will do right by everyone:goodvibes Perhaps those that don't get moved with be staying CL too when they check in. That would rock!!

1) Why all the gripes?
2) People get moved all the time is real life.
3) At least they are trying to make it as pleasant as possible.
4) I can't see where this would spoil a vacation.

NOTE: For those saying they still want to stay because they want to see the animals, well, many of the animals have already been moved because the construction was allegedly" bothering those animals. So, even remaining at AKL would not have been the same.

1. All of the gripes are because when you (as I did) book a resort almost a year in advance and have already paid in full you expect that the resort you booked, planned for and (at least in my case) have been dreaming about is where you will end up.

2. Sometimes people do get moved. But it is not "all of the time". And in my experience it is ALWAYS with the apologies of the company who made the mistake of overbooking (for whatever reason) and the "as pleasant as possible" making of the company.

3.Making it as pleasant as possible does NOT make it pleasant. I am understanding of the fact that sometimes construction schedules/impact are not 100% predictable. I am thankful for the fact that Disney is taking proactive steps to remedy their planning mistake but it doesn't change the fact that it is not pleasant to have to switch if you were really looking forward to AKL in the first place.

4. While I would not let it ruin my trip, I was upset when asked to move. We have had ressies for almost a year. My children are looking forward to staying at a resort with "wild animals". We put a lot of thought and family debate into chosing the resort for this year's vacation. We have spent time (lots of it) dreaming about our time there. IF all resorts were "equal" then everyone would love the same thing. For some, these vacations are once in a lifetime treats. For some they are honeymoon, birthday or anniversary trips. For others, they are simply much thought out, planned out and wished for vacations.

NOTE: As far as those who said they wanted to stay, my family was one of them. And yes, I do want to stay for the animals. But also for the plans that have been made. For the concierge level services arranged. For all of the reasons we first chose AKL we would like to remain there. For those whom AKL was a "second choice" or a "make do choice" I do understand being happy about being "upgraded". But for my family, we could have chosen any other WDW resort but didn't... instead we chose AKL for a reason.

1) I can understand all the criticism of my remarks regarding moving.
2) But, things do happen, and we must adjust.
3) Disney is doing their best to manage the move.
4) This of this as not a crash, but merely a speed bump on the road of life.

NOTE: If you look at my previous posts, you will see where I predicted that the construction WOULD interfere with people's visit and their enjoyment of AKL. I did not imagine the moving of people, but I imagined people asking to be moved because of the noise, confusion and construction. I went through this at another resort, and guests complained all the time, even though the managers and construction folks said it wasn't all that bad.

KristenHoneymooner - I know you're stressed over this BUT look at it as a positive - now you HAVE TO go back to AKL for your anniversary!!

Very true, thanks :) One of the reasons we chose Disney World is the endless anniversary vacation potential! Also, it does sound pretty cool to say we honeymooned at the GF :yay: I just hope my animal-loving sweetie isn't too disappointed.

I think I might ask them to put a note on the reservation for the renovated building. It would be extra special if you got that.
