AKL Standard View Room??

Have you ever stayed at AKL in a standard view? Was it okay. I mean the rooms are the same right, just the view is different. Are they in a different wing of the lodge - far from the lobby and the animals - or are they still near the lobby and a short walk to the animal viewing area. Did you feel "cheated" because you couldn't look out your window and see the animals. Just curious because I upgraded to the AKL from POFQ and could only get a discount on standard view rooms

Here is a map. The standard rooms are in the lower portion of the map on the Ostrich and giraff trails.

The standard rooms are fairly close to the lobby and restaurnats and bus stops. We didn't have a standard room and were at the opposite end of the resort in room 5595.
The standard rooms are the same as all the pool view rooms and savannah view rooms which are all smaller than the deluxe rooms on the 5th and 6th floor. There are animal viewing locations all over the resort and the walk from the standard rooms down to Arusha rock would be 2-3 minutes.

Our rooms were standard view. I was afraid we would hate it because we have always had the preferred views but they were quite nice actually. We didn't feel cheated at all. Our rooms were on the same floor as the lobby so it was very great getting to them so quickly after a long day at the parks. We were on the Ostrich Trail by the handicap parking area. It was very quiet and had alot of trees and bushes so we really didn't see alot of traffic. I'm pretty sure all of the standard view rooms face the front of the lodge. The rooms are all the same lay out except for a few up on the 5th floor that don't have the same type of balcony as the rest of the rooms have. There are many public viewing rooms throughout the lodge to see the animals but be sure to go outdoors in the morning and at night. We really enjoyed doing that. You'll love AKL. It's totally awesome. Have a super time.

I stayed in one this past Christmas and it was great. We were on the ground floor and our patio looked out over the parking lot/entrance. We didn't hear any noise at all whatsoever. It was a nice room. Same size as the rest, and if we wanted to see the animals, we would go to the many viewing spots around the resort.
