I looked up the difference between the standard and value studios at the Jambo house. It basically said that the only difference between the two is the size of the room (about 30 square feet). However, since the price difference is significant, I thought there must be something else to it. What are the difference between the room categories? And has anyone ever stayed at a value studio at the Jambo house? Did you like it and do you have any pictures?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

nope - that's it.

value studios can have a savanna view (i got one a few years ago), or a pool view or a parking lot view.

i believe they are also all or mostly near the lobby so that's a bonus.

but value studios are pretty cramped - for one or 2 people, they are great. maaaaaybe 2 adults and 1 young child. but they really are cramped with all the furniture (and pillows to move around if you are using the pullout sofabed) IMO.

YMMV.

I had a stay I split between a standard and a value so I could judge the difference. Next two stays I chose a value. Friday I'll be in another value studio. IMO, the value studios are DVCs best value. A few photos-

Here's where the difference in size seemed to be-

One difference is that the bed is on the "window side"-

So far all my stays have gotten pool view. We'll see again on Friday.

I have stayed in a value studio many times at Jambo.
I have found the room to be plenty big depending on how many people you have. We have had 2 adults and 1 child and 3 adults and 1 child in the room.
If you only have 3 people you can save space by having 1 person sleep on the sleeper sofa without pulling out the bed. If you remove the cushions along the back it is wide enough and long enough.
One nice thing about the value rooms is that you will always have a great location. Near the pool, buses, lobby. That is a huge plus. You won't have to walk far down the hallways.
I agree with what others have said - they are the best value DVC has to offer.

Thanks for all the info! We think we're going to go for the value studio. We are going to rent points and I just can't believe how inexpensive it will be ($144 per night). Last year we paid $240 for a regular hotel room and we used a pin code. So we are super excited that we can still stay deluxe and not spend a crazy amount of money. We are 3 adults so it may be a little cramped but we've stayed at pop a few times where the rooms are smaller so we'll adjust. Thanks again!

one other note, be sure to book as early as possible since there are a very limited supply of value studios (less than 20 IIRC). many times they are all scooped up by AKV owners prior to the 7 month window opening when any DVC owner can book them.

hope it works out for you.

That is good to know - that the Value Studio's are near the lobby (I assume this is true of all the Value Studio's). We are staying at the values in a couple of weeks for two nights pre-cruise and was going to request close to the lobby but I guess I don't need to.

See my post above (post #3) with link to Jambo House room map.

What about a 1 bdrm value. Are they big enough for 5 adults. Me, DH. DS23 and DS21, and DD15. The boys have shared a pullout at OKW before and they can do it again. DD is all of 5' and weighs about 105. We thought we would try something different this time. I just don't want to be to cramped. Yes I realize that everything will seem smaller compared to OKW.

The 1-bedroom value only has the pullout sofa. They don't have the pullout chair that are in the other 1-bedroom units at AKV.

Thanks for the advice! We are going to try to book ASAP. Hopefully we can get a value! Keeping my fingers crossed! :goodvibes

We have done both value & std. studios (fam. of 3) and I definitely felt like the value was a lot more crowded. Everything literally touches something else and there was no place to put our luggage. ESPECIALLY if you have someone using the pullout sofa. It's cramped enough that I hesitate to book a studio at BLT 'cuz I'm afraid it will be the same way. I wouldn't book a value again for the 3 of us unless I didn't have enough points for the Std. or unless that was all that was available and would never stay in one for more than 2 or 3 nights. The point difference is nothing in comparison to booking a savanna view.

The occupancy for the Value 1BR is four plus a child under 3 years old. The other 1BRs at AKV accommodate five plus a child under 3 so you would have to book a Std View, Savanna View or Concierge 1BR.

The value studios I've been in weren't near the lobby exactly because the studios are on the fifth floor. However, all of the ones I've been in have been fairly close to an elevator.

yep, good clarification - all the DVC villas are on the 5th floor (except a handful of concierge rooms on the 6th floor.)

"near the lobby" is measured horizontally, not vertically. in other words, there shouldn't be any long hikes down a hallway...

Saw a thread a while ago about not being able to request a view for the value studio. Is this still true? I don't feel like calling up to request a view only to get yelled at/lectured.

Thanks!

I made a request for the value studio I've got reserved. Then I called a few weeks ago just to make sure that I still had the request on my reservation. When I called to verify, when I told the CM that I understood it was just a request, nothing guaranteed about it, she responded that they were very glad to have the request, it made it easier for them to know what I liked when assigning my room. I requested a savannah view for my value studio. I'lllet you know tomorrow, which is when I check in, as to whether or not I get it.

Got it! This value studio rivals any studio I've ever had anywhere at WDW. Definitely the best ever at AKL, and I've had both standard and savannah besides this value. Yes, so far I'd say I like the savannah view from this value studio better than the ones I've had from savannah views.
