I just booked two standard view rooms (studios) for my two brothers and their small family's.... just wondering what experience others have had with the standard view....has anyone ever rented a standard view and actually had animals outside their balcony or is it STRICTLY parking lot, pool, or garden view?? Just wondering as I know people have paid for the savannah view and were not happy because they actually could not see any animals after all. oh, and because I don't want to give them any false hope!

I don't believe you will get a view of any animals from a standard view room, however, there is so many viewing places of the animals around the resort that I'm sure they won't be disappointed as it is a gorgeous resort. With that said, they can always ask for a complimentary upgrade upon their arrival. We stayed at the AKL back in November and booked a std view room and once we checked-in, we asked for an upgrade and got a savannah view. Might not happen too often but it's always worth a shot. :)

Only been in a standard view room once. It was overlooking the lobby / drop off area at Kidani.

But like the PP user stated, there are MANY spots to view the animals not from your room. When we walked out of our room and down the hall to get ice from the machine, there were several areas with HUGE floor to ceiling windows to see teh animals. We saw animals of all kinds when we passed them each day.

There are some VERY nice outdoor viewing spots just off the lobby where you can go sit to see the animals. And there is a fire pit off the lobby that's great at night. The animals ARE out at night and it was amazing to go out there. We were there in early December so it was a bit cold at night and the fire was very nice.

we did a standard view at Kidani. 1 bedroom. Our room had a view of the pool. we had no complaints with the view. :)
could we see animals? if you craned your neck super hard to the right past the pool there were some, but we were too far away. :rotfl2:

right down the hall were big windows to see the Savanah. :)

we had a Savannah room in Jambo, ( it is now a standard view room.) didnt see anything but a bird.. very disappointing!!!

Only two of the value studios have a parking lot view. The others are either a savana or pool view. Keep in mind since the rooms at Jambo are on the fifth floor everything is pretty far away. Here's a map of Jambo House. The value rooms on the left on the Ostrich Trail and out front near the entrance or around the Uzima Pool.

I just saw some pictures of a value studio with a view of the savanna on another forum and it was pretty nice. It is a request only to get a savanna view so there are no guarantees as to whether they'd get that view.

Yes, last year we stayed at AKL during spring break. We did not upgrade to a savannah view room. However, we still were given a room that had a view of the animals. Granted, it was not the "best" view, as we were in more of a corner area and right below us was a little fenced off service area. But still, we thought the view was excellent considering we only paid for the standard room. We saw animals every day from our balcony.

Which building did you book in? At Jambo most standard views are of the pool and there apparently have been a few savannah view rooms that are tucked back in the corners that have been added to the standard category.

At Kidani most standard views are of the parking lot with a few looking at the pool and even fewer that have a partial savannah view.

Just to note that the OP mentioned Standard view - not value. Just didn't want them to get their hopes up that odds are low on it being a parking lot view.

Sounds like the room I had in January. :thumbsup2

I booked the standard rooms at the Jambo House-Thank you everyone for your replies- it sounds like they maybe won't get a view of the parking lot at least!! They are just really happy to be going to Disney for their very first visit- they will certainly be staying in style!!
