We are staying for the first time at the AKL 4/15-4/23 in a SV room. I've heard that some of the rooms have long walks to other parts of the resorts like the pool, lobby and bus stop. Where should I request a room and on what Savannah that will give my Family a great view of the animals but also be close to the pool, lobby and bus stop. Thanks in advance.

I'm jumping in here to see what others say. I just asked the same question on another thread. I know someone will offer some good advise.

I want to know also!!! I am taking my two dd's in early April to AKL. I want the best view of annimals. We don't care how far the walk is; just so we can sit on our balcony and be amazed we are in Africa!!!

Well I will be the first to jump in with my stay. When we went my DD was two so I wanted something close to the lobby in case she wanted to walk.

Our room was located in the Zebra Trail, 2nd floor with in the 23-27 room blocks

We were a close walk to the elevators to get us up to the 3rd floor (lobby) or down to the pool and to Mara. It was perfect. We took midafternoon breaks so we saw them feed the animals everyday around 3ish. Our Savannah didn't have any Zebra on it (ironic) but did have most others along with 3 giraffes, which we woke up to every morning!

With the AP rates coming out yesterday, we just decided to stay at AKL for part of our trip. I've been looking at the map of the AKL and find it really confusing! I'm thinking I might just not request anything- are there any really bad savannah view rooms? :confused3

I posted something similiar on another board, but as you asked I don't mind helping out again!

We had a deluxe Savanah room on the fourth floor. We were on the Zebra Trail overlooking the Uzima Savannah. Our room was in the second block jutting out right towards the end. Yes it is a very long walk from the main lobby....very very long. Not a problem for me or my family, but we did notice it! I could see it being unacceptable for some people.

Our Savannah view was awesome by the way...

We stayed on Zebra trail twice...once close to the lobby (just beyond the elevator) and this over looked the Sav above the pool on the map. The map I have access to right now doesn't have it labeled. We were by the watering hole. The other time we were almost the last room down the hall. We loved our room way down the hallway. This was over looking the Sav with Arusha Rock in it (the middle one) right by a watering hole again. There were more animals down here than on this sav closer to the lobby or so it seemed when we were there and a lot less hallway noise. I didn't think it was that far of a walk, but that's every one's opinion on that one. Some people have feet issues, small children, etc. We also didn't come back and forth to the resort either. DD and I left in the morning stayed out all day and came back. I'm always so blasted happy when I'm there that nothing seems to bother me either. We were most concerned about bunk beds and non-smoking so I didn't request a view. 3rd floor is the floor with the lobby too.

I guess I would recommend putting your requests in order through CRO and if you get to your room and you don't like the view, ask nicely to move.
