AKL Room question

We're staying at the AKL for the first time (5/14 - 5/21). I think I'm going to book a pool view room since the Savannah rooms are a little far from the pool :cool1: and my 13 year old son loves to swim. I'm not sure if I should book a standard pool view or a deluxe pool view There are only 3 of us. Can anyone recommend if I should book standard or deluxe, and if you've stayed there any room number recommendations would be great!

I would a book a deluxe pool view, its well worth the extra $. The extra space will also allow you to enjoy yourself more to.

I'm not sure there is that much difference in size between the standard and the deluxe rooms, is there? With 3 people I'd book the standard. The deluxe would be on the 5th floor and the standard on the floors beneath that. You'd actually be closer to the pool on the lower floors, if that matters.

For three people, I would book a standard. The deluxe rooms are not that much bigger and I believe there is quite a bit of difference in price between a standard and a deluxe room.

I would book a savanna view and request Zebra Trail. princess: You can take a quick elevator trip down to the pool. The view is worth it. :flower1: I definitely would not pay more for a Deluxe Pool View if you're only a party of 3. There is only something like 40 square feet extra. You won't need it. Either do standard pool view or standard savanna view. I was on the 2d floor, Uzima Savanna last April and we were close to everything and could also look at giraffes and Thompson's gazelle during "rest" time ;)
:wave:

...set, now I'm confused. I thought a std room was "parking lot view".... :guilty:

Standard size vs. Deluxe size;
There are standard rooms w/ standard view;
standard rooms w/ pool view;
standard rooms with savanna view;
Deluxe rooms with pool view;
Deluxe rooms with Savanna view;
and Suites ;)

We booked standard room with standard view (parking lot I guess) our first trip and were bumped up to a standard room with savanna view. It was wonderful. We looked out straight and left to the savanna, to the right at the pool and we were only a hop away from the pool and everything.

Second trip we booked a standard room with a pool view. We looked at all the roofs of the restaurants, bits & pieces of pool and we never used our balcony. We were a little bit longer trip to pool but still not bad. I would not waste the extra money on a pool view room again based on our experience. I would chance the standard room with the standard view (but not the lower floor). Hope I get bumped but if not, I will still be using the extra money to eat more nice meals.

There are so many nice viewing spots of the animals, I don't think I'd book savanna unless the price was wonderful. Beautiful hotel ! Enjoy !

I agree!
There are some sitches where it really does make a difference:
Tonga building, lagoon front first floor for example (I like walking out to the beach and some of the upper rooms have the castle hidden behind the palms tsktsk!!!)
We ARE getting a savannah room at AKL...my friend booked a pool room and I just couldn't live with that...why else STAY at AK unless you sit on the balcony and watch the animals!...So a parking lot hope for upgrade is better than a pool IMHO.
I was wondering....since it gets dark so early, can we see theanimals at night? Did someone say something about a fake moonrise over the savannah?
Enquiring minds want to know.....only a few more days til it's Disney World! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :earseek: :earboy2:

Hi,

The only differance between the standard and deluxe pool view rooms is the size of the room. If there are only three of you I would save the money and stay in a standard size pool view room.

Just so you know the savanna view rooms on the Zebra trail are just as close to the pool as the pool view rooms are. They are literaly just across the hall.
