AKL room on eBay - seller has now disappeared

Yes that is correct. We don't get the dining plan because we honestly don't eat that much when we're in the parks. I made a couple of dining reservations online and linked them to our reservation.

Is April 15 when all annual dues are due?

I also linked our dining reservations to our dvc reservation number. I worried back in Feb that if he canceled us we would also lose our dining reservations as Disney would cancel those as well. I made back up plans for us just incase and now we will probably be dining a lot more counter service without the dining plan in place. I even had to pay for the Castle meal since we were not on the dining plan!

how do you know unless you have a relationship?

also the facts posted are very suggestive behind the scenes.
& problems thereof.

if a bunch of renters lose their monies, this is "where to go", next
for action. that & organizing all those losing monies to pull
together.

[so the more renters posted here, might want to keep in touch-
just in case.]

if this person is aware that if he doing something wrong, is he
going to give accurate feedback? are others posting here
have more info. that could help-either way?

covering up the observations & ignoring them will not change their
meanings or their implications. anyone can process this "way of
thinking", by adding up the posts. [ connect the dots ].

i think it easy to look the other way if nothing is coming out of your
pockets. knowing how much a disney vacation can mean [ time,
money, & efforts] hopefully all those paying $ for rooms will
be honored. & those attempting to reassure are "sincere"
enough- post facts so those "hoping", are not disappointed when
they try to check in.

maybe he could post here & clear up everyone concerns? [ based
on the observation, that someone already posting here- have a
personal connection.]

He is not returning voicemails, texts or emails so I seriously doubt that he is going to post here on the DIS boards. This was my last email from him and I asked him how he can rent out so many timeshares with Disney..this was also after I purchased from him:
Dear sherabby,

Hey!

Sorry for the delay in response. I am a DVC member, and just put online vacations I can not use annualy. I am not comfortable yet to re-sell for other members, as I would not be able to control the experience. I also work full time as a travel agent focusing on cruises and Disney vacations, and while pricing I offer matches what you will find elsewhere I give 4% of the base package price as cash back so Guests save money that way. I am all about saving people $$!

Many thanks again and any questions at any time let me know.

Scott

His travel website was fenix holiday and it is not shut down.

The money was refunded by ebay so technically we are not entitled to the room anymore because at this point, it's not paid for..we were refunded. I just don't want the room to be out of the inventory in case someone else wanted it. Not to mention, for what we paid for the room for 7 nights wouldn't cover dining for the 8 days we will be there...at least not the restaurants we would eat at on the dining plan.

I'm right with you right now. I was only issued a temporary credit on my Chase Disney Visa. At this point I plan on keeping our reservation and hoping to get in touch with Scott before August. We also wanted the dining plan and you are right that the money back for the room won't cover the costs of the meals. I spent over $200 already to book the Castle meal back in February. I was in contact with the Police in Wilton Manors Florida and was told that since I still have a reservation they could not do anything for me...well he lives in Ft lauderdale now and even has changed his address according to Wilton Manors dept. The detective found his car registered in his name. He also told me that his car was moving from it's parking space. We thought something terrible happened to him for him to just vanish like he did. Oh, there are also three Scott's with the same exact last name living in Ft Lauderdale too! Wilton Manors told me to have a back up plan. I do know someone that emailed me that they sent him a check which he cashed and they have no reservation. I advised them to contact the Ft Lauderdale police but never heard back again from them.

The only one who can cancel those reservations would be the owner or DVC if they cancel due to suspension of his DVC account.

What will happen is when no one shows up for the reservation--as you mention, since you are refunded, you would not be allowed to use it--the points will be taken from the owners account anyway as any reservations not cancelled by day of check in are charged the full points.

Who knows what is going on with this owner at this point. I just hope all those who have reservations that can not or did not receive refunds get to travel without issue.

As far as reservations being cancelled because of non payment of dues, if he is set up monthly, as long as there are funds in the bank account he has associated to pull the MF's, he would not be considered in default.

Good luck everyone!

I sure hope he is not on the monthly system. With everyone getting their money back on ebay he may default on his payments.

There was someone around either this board or another board I frequent that had the same issue last month. Cant remember her name, but will look back through posts to see if I can come across the threads. I think they were even looking on facebook and contacted his family, yet heard nothing from them either.

I probably started the thread but it was removed. I may have used his full name and they removed the posts.

Looks like it might be now.

Sorry I meant to say now shut down instead of not shut down. He still has a facebook link to it but nothing new on it. I swear I found him on facebook and tried to add him as a friend and the next day his profile dissapeared. Now it links up to one of the other Scott's in Ft Lauderdale. I sent him messages but he does not know the other Scott nor did he know that there were three of them in Ft lauderdale!

I found the registered "owner" of the website fenix holidays - its interesting though as the domain registration doesn't expire until 2012. The "owner" is also listed as a resident of Columbus OH and there is a phone number associated with it. For those that have tried emailing/calling Scott might want to check to see if the phone number/emails match up to what is listed on the site - if not hopefully it will help to move your efforts forward.

The fenix website is down but the blog he wrote/comments section is still active. very strange.

Also found the creator of his website. The fenix website was built by a company called magnetic. I emailed them to see if they knew him. This was my response:
Hello,

Scott is a client of ours (we built his website). We also have not been able to reach him for I believe a couple of months now and were also wondering what has happened to him and had concerns about his well being. If you are able to find him or get any information, can you please let us know?

Did you try and contact the phone number for "owner" of the domain name of the fenix holiday's website? It's registered to a Scott XXXX in Columbus Ohio and has a mailing address, phone number and email address. The domain name is typically "owned" by the owner of a site - for example my website's domain name is owned by myself, not the person who created it, etc.

Go to whois.net and type in the domain/website name and click go - it will pop up with all the information.

I looked up the address in Columbus where the domain is listed and that property was put up for rent TODAY thru a property management co.

This is all getting very strange

I called the Fenix numbers months ago and spoke to an individual who did not know him... he had an accent and was hard to understand him as well.

Since this has nothing to do with DVC rentals on the DIS and the renter is not a DIS member the topic is off-topic for our Forum and is closed.
