Hi!

I just booked a FT package through DU at AKL in August! We are staying in a concierge room. We will be taking our 9 1/2 year old DD with us.
My question is...What room configuration should I request? I know she'd get a kick out of a bunk bed...but am wondering how crowded the room is with bunk beds, sofa & bed...??

I would appreciate your opinions!

To bunk or not to bunk.... that is the question.

Well, with 2 beds - or with one bed and bunks... the floor space taken up is the same... however, the bunks take up a lot of "visual" space in the room.

They are however, themed nicely to fit in with the rest of the furniture and the kids do seem to get a kick out of them

Personally, I would take the 2 queens... the rooms - even concierge rooms - are not that big - I like the "airy feel" and don't think I would like the bunks - unless I had a real need for them.

Have fun - concierge at AKL is wonderful

not sure why 2 adults (no kids) got a room with bunks but we did (concierge so maybe it was because of the view in which case i'm thankful *g*)

but i thought it just added to the darkness of the room. next time i'd probably prefer 2 lower type beds instead of the bed and bunks set up. we also had a daybed in there in addition to the tv cabinet and the table and chairs (kewl chairs! weighty things). but it felt crowded to me.

but i'd have to go with the bunks if my kid (when i have 1) really thought it would be neat.

it is on the dark side but as I caught Samantha Brown saying the other day ..... it's romantic. :) for reading there are the typical lights over the bed. but the real view is out the window if you have savannah view and i did spend time out there morning, afternoon or night it was neat.

enjoy!!! give my best to the espresso machine. i miss it *sniff sniff* :teeth:

oooh another thing though....i'm glad i did get the bunks during that visit. i never could have bunks when i was a kid (sleep walker) so i got a laugh out of sleeping on the bottom although i do have the bumps on my head to show for the morning after LOL but they are the kewlest bunk beds. disney really knows how to do things well. when i saw the ones at the WL years ago I thought they were kewler then anything ..... aahhhh to be a kid again. :D

We just got back and stayed in a Savannah Queen/bunk bed room. We loved it. My kids thought it was a blast. My oldest DD would sit on the top and could see the animals outside when the sliding door was open. I didn't notice the room seeming smaller, because there was less floor width taken from the bunks than a queen.

I don't know if they do this in conceirge as well, but I've heard that they try to hold the queen/bunks/daybed rooms for families of 5, as that is the only configuration they will fit into.

I'm only mentioning this because I would hate for you/your daughter to get your hearts set on bunks & then not be able to get them.

Have a wonderful trip! :)

Thanks for all the great replies....I haven't requested anything other than nonsmoking so far....
The advice about not saying anything to DD was good...I had not thought about that!
