I have read about goggles and night vision goggles, do I bring my own or is some availbable to rent?
I currently have CL room with a request of SV, I am so worried that we will not get a SV, I have read so many different things about CL and trying to figure out if they really all are SV's?
With the room discount it is a whole $70 cheaper for a Studio SV at AKL and wonder if I should change to that to gaurantee my view?
I plan on spending a little bit of time at AKL so the CL would be a nice feature to have, not to worried about the kitchen.....
My most important thing is the view from our room......
Ideas and opinions PLEASE

:confused3

They have night vision goggles there for you to use - you don't need to bring a pair or rent them.

For a CL room you will get a savanna view room on the fourth floor. All CL rooms are on the fourth floor. I tired to get a pool view CL room and was told flat out that I had to have a savanna view room while staying CL.

I would suggest emailing IPO to introduce yourself and to put in your room request. You can find the information here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2582311:)

Enjoy CL - it's very well done at AKL. :)

Yep, like kaffinito said, you will have a nice SV room on the 4th floor if you are staying CL. The CL rooms are relatively close to the lobby as well, so they are very convenient. The lounge at AKL is great.

The night vision goggles are available to anyone to use and you might have to wait in a short line, but you will be able to use them. We didn't see anything when we tried, unfortunately. The animals were apparently too far back on the savannah. It was still cool to try, though! :thumbsup2

If you want access to night vision goggles in your room then I would suggest bringing your own. They do have them available to share at the night time viewing areas but wasn't sure what you had in mind access wise. Have a great trip! :)

Previous posters are correct about the night vision goggles. There are CMs in a designated section near the pool who will let you use them at night. You will have to share them with others, but it was always a short line to use them. We were able to see a ton of animals using them. It was a neat experience.

Just to clarify OP - do you currently have a CL room or studio? If studio, then they are on the 6th floor, I believe and 2 of the 5 are pool view (per DVC news room inventory.)
There was enough ambient light at night last Dec. that we were able to see 'our animals' (especially the zebra and giraffes) at 'our' waterhole from our balcony overlooking Uzima Savannah each night.

We brought our own NVG and used them one night. The one pair that AKL had made guest share and there was a long line of people waiting. When we were there we only saw a couple of the cattle and a zebra--so glad a brought my own and didn't have to wait.
