Going to AKL in May. Have a standard room. How are these standard rooms?
Is there anyway to get a free upgrade?
We are traveling with a 14 month old and will probally spen more time in the room than usual.

Thanks

The size of the standard room is similar to that of the Savannah view, or pool view only the Deluxe is larger. If it is just two adults and an infant it should be fine.

Though my motto now is that it can't hurt to try to get upgraded. Based on what I've read on these boards some people flat out ask if there are any upgrades available and some people are lucky and just get them on none crowded times. I've never gotten one given to me so, even though I'm going during a peak season I'm still going to ask for an upgrade. I figure all they can say is it's not available and I still get the original room.

You'll love AKL it is beautiful...

I you really want a savannah view room, then it is best to pay the extra and book it. While upgrades sometimes occur, if the view is important to you, I wouldn't count on the upgrade.

We have stayed at AKL 4 times and have always paid for a savannah view, since that is one of the main reasons I am staying there.

Hi Sharon: We are doing a split holiday in april. We have never been to the ank lodge and I am trying to figure out how many nights to do there, one to rest one day to go to ankl and one more day to do another park I think, that is three nights. Does that sound like enough time to get a feel for the resort or would two nights be enough.

The other question, I am an early riser and would like to make my own coffee and then sit on the balcony, is there room on the counter witih the two sinks for a coffee machine, I wish there was a curtain so that I wouldn't bug everyone that is sleeping.

Thanks,

Deb.

Yes, there is room for a Coffee maker. No curtain to block off the sink area, but the lighting is not very bright, so it shouldn't bother anyone.

As far as nights there - If you're also going to be going to parks, then I would do the 3 nights - there are several activities throughout the day to do - I highly reccommend them all. I stayed for 2 nights - I would have loved a third (and forth and fifth... :D )

You'll find yourself finding reasons to go back to your room so you can watch the animals - it's addictive! Strange but true!

I've got a trip report here: http://www.wdwig.com/faq_akl4.htm

There are several others, and Deb's FAQ page is great - read up before you go!!!
