AKL question

Whats the best way to get to the AKL for dinner and then back to the fort?

We personally prefer to drive over.

Drive is preferable or you could use a variety of ways on Disney Transportation.
Boat to MKfrom the Marina, then Bus to AKL would be my preference if no car.

Correct me somone if I'm wrong (and I know you will) but no buses run from one resort to another. You have to take a bus to TTC, or DTD, or one of the parks, then catch a bus to the resort you want to get to. So as stated if driving is an option, that would be the best bet.

If you are not sure of directions, the easiest way I can say is to turn right out of FW and head toward MK. Loop all the way around the MK parking lot and just keep going. Signs will direct you soon after you leave right to AK/AKL.

You are correct there aren't any resort to resort buses.
But if the AK buses are still running, I would take the AK bus from FW and then the AKL bus to the lodge. It's a 5 minute ride. If not then it's probably DTD. Driving is still the best way.
