AKL putting ballons in room for birthday?

I just spoke with someone directly at AKL, and she said that they put balloons in your room on the day of your child's birthday? Is this really true? I thought you couldn't have balloons there because of the animals. Anyone know if they do this or not? Thanks.

I would think that would be misinformed information, as they have never allowed balloons because of the animals.

I think you got someone on their first da. Balloons are not allowed there, and anyone coming in with one will be stopped and Bell Services will hold it for you until you leave.

I didn't get balloons, but I did get an autographed card from the characters...

My guess is that she works at a different resort and was just subbing at the AKL and didn't know the policy there.

My Bf and I spent my Bday at the AKL 2 years ago. My parents who weren't able to come tried to have a cake and balloons sent to the room. The cake was delicious,no balloons. They told my parents balloons weren't allowed at the resort for the safety of the animals. There are signs posted as well along the walkway from the bus stop.

Agreed. Most people don't realize when they think they are talking directly to the resort, they are really getting a call center. I think this phone call proves that. Not to mention that balloons in the room for birthdays do happen but they certainly aren't a standardized thing. Sorry, OP.

my DD requested we go to WDW for her 16th Bday and we were fortunate to get AKL ressies. no balloons but a wonderful card and button were waiting for her at our room.

When they lady picked up the phone she said "Animal Kingdom Lodge, may I help you?" Then after talking for awhile, she transferred me to the call center (CRO) so they could make a note on the reservation, since she didn't have it yet being a month out. So, yes, you can call directly to the resort. I'll go find the number if you would be interested. I actually don't really care if we get balloons, the button and card would be something that could last.

She could have been at the resort but just because she answered the phone that way doesn't mean she was. I'm sure the phone system can tell the operators which resort phone number the call is coming in for.

Who knows, but she was definitely wrong about the balloons.

I agree with Allison and bradk. How the CM knew to answer "Animal Kingdom Lodge" would likely be because a screen display or some other method - who knows, maybe the incoming calls have different ring tones depending on what resort's 'direct' number you call - let her know how to answer before picking up the phone.

Go to the information desk at the park on the day of the birthday and they will give you a "It's my birthday" pin to wear. Each park offers different ones.

In your room, you should get a card. if you would like to pay extra you can get a cake. I will echo what the others said....no ballons on AKL property.
