AKL pools -- how busy and when?

We'll be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge the first week in May. I believe that the pool is open 24 hours -- can anyone tell me when it stops being busy in the evening, or if you'd expect it to be busy at all that time of year? Also, would you say that it will be comfortable at night (say, 9-ish) this time of year in the pool?

Thanks!

There is a sticky at the top of this board titled: "WDW Resort FAQ and Information Thread". It probably can answer a few of your questions. I know that all WDW resort pools are heated and most of them are open until around midnight with lifeguards on duty until 10 p.m. (I think!).

AKL has a fairly large pool, and in the summer it was never really crowded.
I can't imagine it being a problem around this time of year, any time of the day.
I personally won't swim, even heated, disney pools are'nt warm enough for me. I've seen smoke coming off a pool in the winter, but the water still feels cold, 85 degrees, is about the coldest I'll swim. I' ve heard pools are 82 degees, but I've never stuck a thermometer in one.

AKL's pool is open 24 hours. It was never crowded when we were there, but that was in Feburary. It was plenty warm enough to swim during the day, but not in the evenings. In May I would think it's warm enough to swim in the evenings and the pool is heated. I don't know how crowded the pool will be at that time of year though.

I have been to AKL twice during the first two weeks of May. The pool was always lovely and uncrowded until early afternoon. Then I guess people return from the parks for a break and it can get very, very crowded until after dinner time. It's open 24 hours, no lifeguard after 9 or 10 p.m., and there's always a good amount of people enjoying the pool, but it was never crowded at all. Just gotta realize that many people are too lazy to remove their towels when they leave, so it looks like chairs are occupied when they aren't. On my last trip we spent more time than usual at the AKL pool, and I had the best time ever at WDW. It was so relaxing and the water temp was perfect for us, nice and warm. Enjoy!!

When we were there two years ago, the slide was closed after the lifeguards left - they fenced off the top and bottom, and turned off the water.
