AKL or POR

With the new room-only code that just came out, I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade to the AKL from POR for our wedding night.

Any opinions??

Another vote for AKL. It is sooooo much more romantic than POR.

For just the one night go with the AKL if the added expense is not going to cause you financial worries.

Yup, no worries there, with the code, I'll still get a $20 credit back on my cc from our deposit at POR. That $20 can go towards our champagne and strawberries at AKL, since those aren't available at POR.

Definitely AKL! That's what we picked for the days leading up to our wedding. Some people like the theme more than others, but we think it's beautiful and unique.

We have been to AKL once and to POR several times (more than 15 times). AKL is a beautiful resort as it should since it is a deluxe, but for us it had more of a hotel feel than a resort feel. AKL certainly has some terrific room window views, but who spends their time at WDW looking out the room window. To us, the grounds at POR are more appealing and the food court is a better bargain for quick meals. POR only has 1 restaurant (Boatwrights) while AKL has two (Jiko and Boma). We like the POR pool better along with the pool bar. POR also has several nice quiet pools. For us, POR is the favorite for now. I think you will be happy at either one. If you have been to one, try the other then you will know which to return to on your next trip.

I have stayed there too ,Poly is very romantic You can't go wrong with either AKL or POLY.

I think in terms of the resort itself, I do prefer AKL over Poly, but the location of the Poly is clearly better. Both are beautifully and uniquely themed, but to me, all of those animals just make AKL unbeatable.

Honestly, if we're talking ANY deluxe, we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for our wedding night and a few nights after and really loved it. The Epcot resorts have the best location, imo, since everything is so walkable and World Showcase is a wonderful evening destination. And Boardwalk Inn is a really nice hotel... beautifully done, with an upscale feel.

I'm not too crazy about POR for a special occasion, if you have the option of a deluxe, because I don't think Disney carries the theming to the inside of the rooms as well as they do in the deluxes. Beautiful grounds, but very generic room that felt like a nice motel room. For a moderate, we liked CSR better! Actually, I also liked POFQ better, but probably not for a special occasion. I haven't stayed at CBR since right after it opened.

We love AKL. Never stayed at POR or Poly. But the Poly was very pretty when we went over for dinner at Ohana.
