I have 3 children 9,9,11. We will be taking 3 nite land/ 4 day sea next August.

I am currently booked at the Poly, but have the chance to upgrade to AKL.
I have never stayed at either resort. I like the idea of a "monorail hotel", but not married to it. Which would you choose?
Thanks.

I had the same dilemma last year. First, I wouldn't consider AKL an upgrade from the Polynesian. My children are approx. the same age as yours. We ended up staying at the Polynesian and we had the opportunity to visit AKL. I am happy I stayed at the Polynesian. AKL is very dark and now that I did go see it...I would never stay there. Also, having the monorail right there is truly an advantage! JMHO
I'm sure you will have a great time wherever you stay!!!

For me (and my wife) we would definately say the Polynesian - being on the Monorail is great and the Poly is amazing - from the themeing, dining, access to monorail, TTC right next door, and even the water launch to the MK. I do have to say to be fair I have not stayed at AK, but have friends and family that have stayed at both. The good news is either of them would be great, but with the added transportation options at the Polynesian I would pick it. :earsboy:

When I speak of "upgrade", it refers to having to pay more for a party of 5.
The standard rooms only hold 4, and to go to a room at AKL for 5 is a suite (I think). The Land Sea package is only for a "standard" room that holds 4.
The diff is $150.00 whole stay.

Really, I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with either place. Personally, I would pick AKL. I think it would be neat for your kids to be able to see the animals any time they wanted. I also don't particularly care for the Poly...it's looks very 70s to me, just not my style.

My choice would be AKL, if nothing else it would be like having a completely different vacation from your already tropical cruise. It is an incredible resort and the theming is way beyond what I have seen at Poly on our visits there. This is a true hotel - if it rains you can still enjoy every part of it without going outside. Your kids are also a great age to fully enjoy all of the games and activities.
