AKL on Points/Cash

DH and I are thinking of staying at AKL and are debating whether to use cash or points. We know it 's not the most effective use of points, but weren't sure what if any deals or discounts we could get for a cash reservation. Are there member discounts for cash ressies?

We'd like to do concierge & take the sunrise safari. Anyone out there done this with points? Did you think it was worth the point cost? What was your room like.

There are no DVC member discounts for non-DVC resorts. AP rates at AKL are usually good.

Where do you find AP rates? One more thing, in the MS guide book they have Savana View and Deluxe Savana view. What is the difference??? Is it worth the point difference between the two?

We stayed last year at AKL on an AP rate. We loved it and it was a great deal with the AP rate. Just watch the discount page on "The Dis" and you'll see when AP rates come out or check with Mary at Mousesavers.com. They also might have a code or package deal for the dates of your trip. AKL always seems to be one of the ones offered at a good discount rate. It is an awesome resort, enjoy your stay however you go!

As far as the rooms go, I believe the only difference between a savannah and deluxe savannah is the size capacity. Both overlook the savannah. However the deluxe rooms accomadate five people because they include a daybed. I also think the deluxe rooms are on the two highest floors.

Its actually not a good use of points to stay AKL, We are doing this in December, For 2 nights a thursday and a Friday. The Thursday night is 46 points. But, the Friday is 86 points. So we are doing one night cash (Thursday) And Friday on cash. As for room size, a deluxe room is slightly larger, and are on the 5th and 6th floor. 5th floor has a slightly better view, due to the thatch roof overhang in some rooms. This is our 2nd. CL stay it is our fave resort, You will love it!
