We had no problem with AKL's "remote" location. For one thing you don't share a bus with any other resort. So even if another resort may be closer, it may have to made addt'l stops at other resorts. I took my daughter back for a nap every day of our vacation last year. I didn't find it a hassle at all. Our stroller was a little bulky - so it was a little difficult folding it up and getting onto the bus if I was alone with her (my DH and other kids stayed at the parks). Of course, that would have been the situation no matter what resort we were at.
I enjoy the ride on the bus - it was a little "wind-down" time. By the time we reached the resort (for afternoon naps or at the end of the day), the kids were ready for bed. We didn't mind at all. We'll be back in a couple of weeks with 21 people - I think the bus ride will be great, making plans for the day and discussing all our fun at the end.
