AKL Mara question

How do you get to Mara at AKL. I walked around the hotel a few years ago and seem to remember that the entrance was outside the building opposite the pool. Is there anyway to access Mara without going going outside the building?

The only way I remember getting there was by going outside. it is a covered walk way so you won't get wet if it is raining.

Yes you must leave the building (between Boma and Jiko), pass the pool on your right and walk to Mara.

Yes, others who responded are right. You must walk out near Boma and down past the pool. I remember thinking how I wished we could get to the Mara without going outside first.

Thanks for the info everyone. Seems like a strange set up. I thought perhaps the Zebra trail would be better to have easy access to Mara in the morning, but if you have to go out near Boma, it doesn't really matter which trail you are on.

You can get there easily from the Zebra Trail elevators as well. Take the elevator to the 1st floor (here you will see the door to the Laundry facility and to Simba's Cubhouse) and exit through the double doors. You will pass the Arcade on your right, the Restrooms and Changing Rooms on your right and then just beyond that is Mara on your right. VERY Convenient!

All that has been said is correct. I just wanted to add that both ways of getting to Mara (doors by Boma/Jiko and the Zebra elevators) are completely covered. You still have to "walk outside", but you won't have to walk "in the weather". We have stayed at AKL a number of times, and have never had a problem taking food back up to the room from Mara. (If you are carrying a tray, be sure to make use of the handicapped doors that open automatically.)
