AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Hey Best Aunt -- there is a lady in my neighborhood who has that as her license plate. Do you live in my 'hood? ;)

Nope! I'm hours away from you (and too cheap to get a personalized license plate).

I wanted my Disboards name to be "Best Aunt in the World" but it wouldn't all fit.

I don't have kids, but I do have nieces and nephews. I took the oldest one to Disney World as a high school graduation present, so I like to think I earned the title. He had last been there when he was 10, and he wanted to go back.

I think you mean "bad caffeine always tops no caffeine"

Except for Nescafe. I simply cannot drink that stuff.

your first mistake was in assuming nescafe is actually coffee at all.

reminds me of the old Peanuts strip when Lucy brings Linus a cup of hot chocolate:

Linus: "this tastes like water with a brown crayon stirred in it!"

Lucy: "I'll add another crayon"

:rotfl2: Love it! (Btw, I'm in Pasadena, too. Hi, neighbor!)

Hi! for a few months at least. we PCS to Texas..a MONTH before our Disney trip. ten days, CL. I plan on drinking as much South African Wine as Jiko has in stock...

until then I plan on drinking all the grapefruit crushes at Two Rivers.....

You sound like my Auntie :lovestruc I have many Aunts, but only one Auntie. We are extremely close, and she is like a Mom to me. I am like a daughter to her, and my kids are essentially her grandkids :lovestruc

I always say Auntie never birthed any children, but she still has kids!

I am looking forward to some SAfrican wine myself. Please tell me they can be had in the lounges or Boma? We are not going to Jiko....

Pack a wine bottle opener in your luggage! Then check the wine rack in The Mara (the quick service). They sell bottles of wonderful S African wines and very reasonably priced! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2. They have a selection of wines in Zawadi Marketplace as well. Reasonable prices and many (all?) are Stelvin caps. I always buy a bottle of Goats Do Roam and have a wine and cupcake night on the balcony watching the animals.

NICE! Thanks for the tip!

I am a red kind of girl, prefer zinfandel, merlot, and shiraz over cabs. Any particular label you would recommend?

Do Boma and Jiko still do a restaurant tour at 4pm? Is it worth doing?

Curious about this too.

They usually do have the tour at 4pm, but you may not see it on the Activities Board. I'd suggest asking at the Boma podium around 3:45pm if you don't see it posted. :thumbsup2 It IS worthy! Besides the wonderful information about the food and the restaurants, at Boma you should be offered a sample of soup AND a Zebra Dome!! At Jiko, they often offer samples of the awesome breads/dips! :goodvibes

Goats Do Roam has some wonderful wines, but I'm sure if AKL is selling it, whatever label you choose will be worthy! ;)

....that's worth the price of admission ALONE...;) :teeth:

the selection in the gift shop is HUGE. Victoria Falls has a few options and I assume the CL will too. not sure about Boma, and I also assume Sanaa has options. this will be our first foray into Boma and Sanaa, looking forward to both. Jiko is our second favorite dining option in the whole resort/park complex. V&A being first.

...wine is also available for purchase at The Mara....I know firsthand...*hic*....;)

And they provide plastic wine glasses at The Mara too....I know firsthand as well :thumbsup2

I am also impressed with the wine selection in The Mara -and the prices are decent too.

DVC question....is there zero chance of waitlisting either a value studio or a CL studio at 4 months out for 1 or 2 nights? I'm still waiting on ROFR so I'm jumping the gun here, but DS13 wants to go 1 or 2 days ahead of the rest of the family for his August birthday trip and he wants to stay at AKL. I was planning on just looking for a standard studio, but if I had any chance of either of the other 2 I'd waitlist that. Just curious if anyone's ever had any luck getting either that didn't own here.
