Some people have asked about DVC villa locations. This link might be helpful:

It starts off with all categories checked. Uncheck the ones that don't interest you, and then click on SEARCH. For example, you can search for the value villas in Jambo House, which one person asked about. It will then list room numbers, and tell you about the view for each room.

Hello, I am getting very excited for our May trip!

I put in a room request (we have reserved Arusha Savannah, 2 queens), but I saw that someone said that the 3rd (lobby) floor is noisier than other floors due to foot traffic. Is that true? Would people recommend 2nd or 4th floor instead? Of course, priority is animal viewing, but noise at all hours of the night will be annoying as well.

(We have two sons ages 8 & 10 and will be trying to get enough sleep so as not to be cranky when I make them get up early for rope drop )

Hemmie the hallways are very long and if your near the end of the hallway (instead of near lobby or elevators) it is not noisy.

If you click on my TR in my siggy it will give you an idea of the view from your Arusha Savana view from the third floor. We loved it the last time and are asking for similiar this Sept. The hike isn't fun but the beautiful seclusion is great for sitting on the balcony to enjoy what your paying for.

Ownthemagic.com sells any items leftover from a refurb, and at one time they did have bedspreads & curtains from AKL for sale!

Was able to get WBC (I own Wyndham so huge savings) for four days instead of two. So... Less time at AKL but as a result of the savings, we are upgrading to Savannah View.

I put Arusha as a request along with Kudu trail. This way if we don't get Arusha we'll have Sunset. Thoughts? Should we just pay for Arusha? About $200 difference. Just wondering if it is worth it.

Admitting to being a coffee snob over here...

For our upcoming AKL stay, I am curious about the coffee at The Mara. For a point of reference I *love* Starbucks and do okay with Dunkin Donuts.

I also wonder about the in-room coffee makers. I hear they come with coffee pods -- how good are those pods? Is it possible to bring small liners and my own coffee to brew??

Aside: I know many are that Starbucks has come to the World, but for one am happy about it knowing that if all else fails I can still get my java fix a few times on our trip.

For the record ... my work schedule is completely out of control right now and it's TERRIFIC to know that in less than 60 days I'll be kicking back at the AKL enjoying a truly unique resort.

It's like a light at the end of a tunnel for me right now.

The coffee in The Mara and in the rooms is Joffreys brand, which isn't as good as Starbucks, but its definitely better than what they used to serve. As far as bringing your own pods, I don't see that it will work, the top part of the coffee machines are very shallow & small - only big enough for the pre-filled pods (which yes, they provide)....but I guess if you could find some, you could try it. Since its so shallow I think if you tried a filter & grounds it would make a huge mess. I definitely will not fit a K cup. I never looked but maybe you can pre-purchase Cuisinart pods to take with you.

I usually end up mixing half hot chocolate half coffee at the machine to make a mocha!

Try it first. I've heard a lot of good things about the Joffrey's

And for the record ... you can buy Cuisinart pod packets online. You just need to know exactly what kind of machine it is. They make a couple of different models.

Personally, I just pack my camping french press and carry on making my own.

Oh I meant skip the pods/bringing my own. I'll definitely try the coffee at the mara! Bad caffeine sometimes beats no caffeine
