Question on getting to DTD... We will have a car, and one night we are going to Trex for dinner, would it actually be quicker or easier to take transportation that night because DTD is such a mess or will driving be just as good?

I would think as long as you were headed there on any Disney bus atleast 30 minutes prior, you're probably good. So in this case, yes I'd take Disney transportation over my car.

I agree! I keep reading how bad parking is during the construction so this is the one time I'm planning on taking the bus. Besides, I can drink a couple of those giant drinks and not have to worry about driving :-)

We are waiting for October/November on Jet Blue too. Jet Blue says they won't update until May.

Although, if the prices don't drop significantly from what we can look at right now, we may take the Auto Train!

Yikes! I'm waiting for December! :faint:

Just to set the record straight..Kidani doesnt have any value accommodations, they are only at Jambo house... Not sure about all but we had a value studio and it faced the pool..Also my next door neighbor had a 1 br value and they had a Savannah view... i beilieve ostrich trail.

Hth.
Thanks for the response. I was just checking the DVC point chart on wdwinfo and saw the different categories. I was trying to find the lowest points for 1 week. I'd prefer to stay at Kidani so I would just book standard then- I believe it is 240 points for the end of August.

I don't know about how easy it is to book the two categories specifically, but Kidani is far from sold out. I have been told it is relatively easy to book just about anything at the 7 month window. (I hope so because we have a friend booking us a 1BR Savanna view at 7 months next week!)
I heard there was good availability there too, I just want to book a lower point room for a week. I hope I can get one… knowing my wife, she will want to tryt to get BCV or BLT. :faint:

My first time staying in AKL!!! Our party will be there 8/20 - 8/27 with some arriving on 8/22 a d some leaving on 8/26. So looking forward to staying here!

Nothing wrong with either of those spots either! However, AKL area cannot be beat for a relaxing vacation!

I'm sorry to say that we had to cancel our RCI Exchange into 1 Bedroom Kidani Savanna View in January. I am however, happy to report that we are now booked at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in a Pool View Room. So excited to be going back. We absolutely loved the 2 nights we spent at AKV Jambo studio last May and we must must must get back to this amazing resort.

5/3-5/12 Pool View Room AKL pixiedust::cool1::banana:

Ok guys, need some help please!

My mom passed away last week, and my sister, 12 yr old niece and I will be celebrating her life with 4 days at AKL from May 14-18.

We typically do commando park time and stay offsite, but with this special occasion, we want to relax and enjoy each others company since we live on separate coasts!!

We will do one day at DHS since that is our favorite park, but the other days will be finding something new to do!

My question is, would it be worth doing the club level since we will be at the hotel more now.... if we were doing commando park, I would say no, but was just wondering if whatever it offers, and not really sure of all those perks just yet, lol but what do you guys think?

thanks in advance!!!

Thanks... I'm a spoiled DL vet, and can't really wrap my head around wdw transport, which is why we are renting a car, but if guess we'll give it a shot that night! The buses at AKL are clearly marked DTD right? I don't have to go somewhere else first?

Yes, all buses are clearly marked. You can always ask the driver as well. Buses make multiple stops (it will still be better to drive). I could be wrong, but I believe the DTD bus goes to AKL, Blizzard Beach, and DTD (not sure of the order). Again though, the bus will read and the buses loud system guy will say "Downtown Disney ".

Sorry for your loss, and I hope you have an amazing celebration. It sounds like a great plan. Yes, in your situation I think club level would be perfect. The lounge would be perfect to hang out and reminisce. We're DVC members plus we do cash stays, and we often do "resort only" stays; and when we do, it's generally club level.
If your stay allows you to do the sunrise safari, you should, but that would also require an AK day.

Wolfie68: I totally agree with psac's advice! :thumbsup2 The only clarification I want to make is that the Sunrise Safari would require a park day at AK (not AKL ;)) It's a wonderful (early morning) experience that is only available to AKL-CL guests! :goodvibes It's only offered Thursdays and Sundays.

…..one of the things that I most love about AKL is the fact that they don't share any bus transportation with any other resort. However, you are correct in saying that the DTD bus does make a stop at BB. Usually, during the mornings, they stop at BB first and then go on to DTD, while in the later hours (like late afternoon) they go to DTD, followed by BB. I'm guessing that it alleviates any 'dripping wet' passengers in the bus :teeth:…please note: ANY resort you stay, all DTD buses go to BB and/or TL!

…ITA….the SS is a not-miss thing….you get so much more out of the safari than during a 'regular ride' during the day….the park is a little eerie too, first thing in the morning…and the buffet breakfast is awesome!

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful way to celebrate your mom! :goodvibes

I have stayed in CL rooms at the Poly a few times and found them to be well worth the extra cost when we planned to spend a lot of time at the resort. CL sounds like it would fit your situation well.
