Just 3 sleeps to go! And a couple of questions:

Has Mara switched to Joffreys? (I'll need to pick up Via if not...)
Do they show movies by the pool most nights?
Anyone notice if it has been particularly buggy there? (Someone mentioned bad mosquitos at WL and I'll want to pack some bug spray.)

Fingers crossed for some Pixie Dust for a great room, though even a view of the Jambo House parking lot will still mean I am looking at the Happiest Parking Lot on Earth!

I read on an earlier post that Mara has switched to Joffreys.

You might see some Lovebugs flying around. They won't hurt you.

I think they show movies by the pool every night. And I've never noticed flying bugs. Floor bugs a few times though.

Are they booked DVC or through cash? DVC you won't get new filters and coffee everyday so I'd tell them to bring extra. There are breakfast items in the store but there's not a great deal of choices and they're pricey.

Question for you all. Any idea if AKL is one of the resorts that get discounts (room only or dining) for early May? Just trying to figure out my odds. Thank you.

I think it's two bags of coffee and two filters each day. I'm not a coffee drinker so not sure if that's enough, I know some people drink a lot.

Yes, in early May it's typically the room discount. AKL is usually included. I believe it was 25-30% off last year. We are checking into Jambo House on may 10th! Can't wait!

I am super excited to stay here next year...am just wondering if I should book the lodge or a villa?? any insight?? family of five with one under 3 so can do either....also if you stay at Jambo can you use pool at kidani??

I can't answer about the Lodge/Villas because we've never stayed here before, but we do arrive in 19 days, yay! But I can tell you that you can use both pools, and it doesn't matter if you're staying in Kidani or Jambo House

We just got home last night. I can answer the bug question...we did not notice a bug problem at all. We hung out by the pool several nights and on our balcony others, and I never once got bit.

....that's because all the resorts are sprayed in the grassy/foliage areas around the pool and gardens very early in the morning....

We had 2 packets of coffee each day. It is a large pod enough for one pot (12 cups).


If they are not DVC, Mousekeeping should replace each day

Just returned from a week at AKL and cant say enough about it. Talk about Pixie Dust. Booked a pool view and was upgraded to Savanna on Kudu trail! 11th visit to Disney and this is the first time this ever happened. Stayed at WL twice , dont know which I like better. WL transportation was better in my opinion. Looking forward to out next visit.

Booked a pool view and was upgraded to Savanna on Kudu trail! 11th visit to Disney and this is the first time this ever happened. Stayed at WL twice , dont know which I like better. WL transportation was better in my opinion. Looking forward to out next visit.

We have stayed at WL and this will be our first at AKL. I hope we love it as much as we did WL.

I prefer the lodge because of the lobby and QS Mara restaurant, but a lot of people enjoy the intimacy of Kidani. Like someone else said, you can use both pools.

I agree! I was really excited to stay at Kidani, but really missed the lobby and the atmosphere at AKL.

I totally agree.. We went to dinner at Sanaa and I told my husband the lobby did nothing for me. It's cute, but not grand and exciting to me.

...same here....after experiencing Jambo House, it's almost claustrophobic! Sanaa is awesome though.....

.....most folks who have stayed at either WL or AKL like the other one also. They were designed by the same architect, and AKL [specifically Jambo House] is considered the 'baby brother' of WL.
