AKL LITE II - We're #2, but we try harder....

So I got some interesting info from my DVC planner. (New Member)

She was telling my about Bay Lake Tower, and how a member could use all the stuff at the resort, but normal guests could not use the Bay Lake Tower amenities. I asked her why it was different at AKL. (I had just checked in to AKL Jambo, and was told at check in I could use the DVC pool no problem). She told me that it was temporary until the hotel was at 100% operation, and that once all the rooms where open, it would not be the case.

Am going to check with Disney. One of the reasons I booked AKL was to go back to the Kidani water play area as the kids love it. I would feel cheated paying the same price for less amenities.

Just dropping in to say HI to all my friends. I have been out of it for a few months. I have just had total knee replacement! :cool1: Hope to be planning a WDW trip soon.

Welcome back Laura. I am looking forward to everyone pictures. The only way I am going to get my AKL fix right now. :rolleyes1

:wave2: Hi Angel! Hope your new knee is feeling strong :thumbsup2 When do you think you'll get back to Disney?

RachelTori I'm dying to see your pics! :flower3:

I'm trying, really I am!! It's a s-l-o-w process and my little Nikon really let me down this trip. Guess it's time for another camera -- and another trip!! :rotfl:

How about some pictures of the signs along the walkway from Jambo to Kidani? (if you don't want to know the answers, don't read these! ;))

Glad you like them! It made walking the path between the 2 resorts "fun"!! (we only found one sign where someone had decided to turn it around! :headache:)

....soooo, how long did it actually take you to walk back and forth?? Taking into account 'picture-taking time' of course....

..wow, Laura!! What great pix!

I was going to say the same thing! That mama and baby are PRECIOUS!

Laura - I LOVE the pics. What a nice idea they had to help "kill" the time on the walk between resorts with those signs :thumbsup2

And how cute about the "Lion King" elevator names. I LOVE that!
Thank you for the pics :worship:

Great photos so far! Thanks for sharing!

Is it a long walk between the buildings when it's hot & humid outside?

We found it an easy walk 5 maybe 10 min max. Even the kids didn't complain. When we were there there were no signs so it was a bit dull walking past the car park.

Yes, an easy 5 - 10 minute walk. On my last night, when I had moved from Jambo to a Kidani Villa, I was at The Mara when the skies opened. It was raining so hard and blowing so badly, that I would have gotten drenched even trying to get to the Jambo bus stop.

The one disadvantage that comes to mind about the Kidani bus stop is that, although it's covered, walking from the building to the bus stop is NOT!!

Luckily, I still had Lounge privileges so I took full advantage, waiting the storm out in the Club Level lounge, enjoying a Chardonnay!! :cloud9: (then the rain stopped and I walked back to Kidani!! :rotfl2:)

Hey there! Where the heck you been?!!

;)

Ohhhhhh, around....:rolleyes1

Mostly on the Trip Reports board. Writing a TR is practically a full-time job!! But, it's fun.

Oh, and the food pictures thread. Drool. Can't tear me away from that one!

LOVE your Kidani pics! Thank you for sharing them, I'm looking forward to more. I don't know if you posted it, but overall, what was your impression of Kidani-"yay" "nay" or "meh"? The only part I'm a bit "meh" about is the lack of counter service...TWO food choices at the pool bar?! TWO?!?! Gah. Where is my African Soup? Oh ya...at the Mara. Eh, gives me a good excuse to walk and visit the main lodge, right??? :goodvibes

I am super excited about staying there in December! I just hope our last night comes through so we don't have to move. We are currently booked in Jambo for Dec 31-Jan 1 - Jambo is LOVELY, but I just don't like movin'.

And just because I haven't been on in a while...gotta share the little boy (21 months!):

Awwww, Henry is adorable!! What a cutie-pie!! :cloud9:

You haven't missed it, I haven't had time yet to give my impressions of Kidani; but I will sum up quickly (more details and pictures later!) -- it's a YAY!!!! :thumbsup2

:yay:

Thanks for such a great thread! I'm enjoying reading through past posts. My apologies if the following questions have been answered in this thread, I just can't seem to find them (and there are so many pages!).

I will be staying in a 1-bedroom concierge-level room in Jambo House in January and have a few questions since the last time we were there a couple of years ago...

1. Where is the lounge now located? Is it back to the sixth floor space overlooking the lobby?

2. Where are the concierge villa rooms located? I know that the villas (studio to grand) are located on the fifth and sixth floors of the resort and that regular concierge is on the fourth.

3. What type of views do concierge-level villas get? I read somewhere that now all concierge rooms (for non-DVC villas) are guaranteed savannah views without a pool view being an option. Is this the same for the concierge-level villas?

Thanks so much! We can't wait!

I was very curious about the walk b/w Jambo and Kidani. We hope to walk to Sanaa (at least 1 way) for dinner in December. I had envisioned walking down the side of the road, on and off curbs; but from what I can tell, it looks like a fun little jaunt! Thanks for the pics. :thumbsup2
