I don't think Lugnut meant for it to come across that way at all. I'm pretty sure he felt honored and somewhat in awe of meeting up with Jack. :worship: (at least, that's the way I interpreted it! ;))

Oh no-I didn't take it that way either-I've enjoyed his report and pictures :sad1:...and personally I'd be all excited to meet Jack too after reading all his awesome reports-he seems to know a lot of the Disney people-he talked in one report about being in Yak and Yeti on the opening and seeing the man who designed the Animal Kingdom...:worship: and he got his picture taken with him-I unfortunately wouldn't know him if I tripped over him-which knowing me is a fairly decent posibility...:confused3

I'd be all excited if I recognized anyone from the boards at Disney...but that seems doubtful because most people aren't lunatic enough to go in August except I'll go whenever I can and make it work... :woohoo:

Happy trips to all who are getting ready...

Hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day...:flower3:

OOPS!!! How did they get in here??!!!!

I am so behind - but wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all you DIS mothers! :goodvibes

Is your ticker updated? I can't remember where you're staying anymore!!!! :rolleyes1

Yes, this is the final ticker for next weeks trip:) Well, you arent the only one who couldnt remember for a bit where we were staying! lol

Kidani will have to wait for Sept:) Needed/wanted to be close to MK the first couple of days:)

The last 2 times we went the pool was open 24 hours. My kids, really adults, swam at 3am and the guards were there and no-one said no swimming to them. In fact, that pool was hopping at all hours! We were there at midnight and it was full of parents with little kids.

I'm new to the board but *love* Disney World! :lovestruc We've never done a deluxe property before, but AKL has been at the top of our wishlist since it opened. With the Buy 4, Get 3 deal, we just had to go for it! :banana:My question is whether it's true that the pool at AKL is open 24 hours? Also, which of the offered activities are good for teens?

Me again :wave2: sorry - I've been awful at keeping up with this thread - sorry for seeming so un-sociable!!!!

The laundry at AKL, is it near the pool at all?

What do you guys do while you have laundry in?

Oooh ooh! So I was thinking today that the first thing to touch my lips on WDW property should be a zebra dome..........

What d'ya recon?

We're going to the Mara for our arrival night dinner, so I could easily sneak one in before I tuck into my main meal.

(Also, can we get take out from Mara and go eat in at a viewing point if we don't get a savannah view.)

My ressies are for next week at the Poly (very last minute trip) but my heart really wants to stay here. We aren't all that concerned about the parks, we'll do what we do so the resort is very important to us. It will be a workaholic hubby, me a stay at home mom, and two girls 5 & 7 who love a pool and slide. Can you help me?

Is the new pool at the villas available to regular guests?

Are the bunk bed rooms that much greater than the regular? I thought my girls might enjoy them but trying to justify the extra $$.

Husband just wants to rest and thought this might be a better fit than poly, traffic wise. Is that a fair assumption?

Proximity is not a pro or con with us as we might only do AK and/or Epcot and TL. However, Lego store is a must--is it hard to get transport to DD?

Are there rooms/areas to avoid where the savannah view isn't really?

Is it difficult to get breakfast lunch on property? We're not on dining plan so availibility and expense is of a concern.

any thoughts would be great. I really want to be here and thought it might be better for hubby but am unsure for children--missing out on movies and fireworks on beach, etc have been continually mentioned, tho I think night vision goggles would be pretty cool...

That's the first thing we had at AKL in April!:rotfl: We checked in around 8:30pm and all they had in the lounge was dessert -- it's a hard life...:rotfl:

We did a split-stay in April with both AKL & Poly. I really enjoyed them both. Since proximity isn't an issue, I'll let you know that the busses from AKL were faster and more direct that the ones at the Poly (they share with CR).

Both are very relaxing resorts. To me, AKL had the edge in this since when we were there we didn't even feel like we were at WDW -- it felt like an oasis from the crowds in the parks. Some people hate this -- we loved it.:cloud9:

Pool -- I was told that, yes, you can use the pool and water play area at Kidani. But the main AKL pool is so huge and inviting -- it was wonderful. And there is a nice slide there, too. It's very natural-looking. The Poly pool is fun, but way too small for the resort, so it was very hard to find a chair or two by the pool and the pool itself was crowded.

Food -- Boma has a breakfast buffet that people rave about, and there is a Quick Service, Mara, right by the pool. We stayed club level (so we could do the safari) so we didn't end up needing to get food there, but the Mara looked nice when we checked it out. Dinner at Boma and Jiko were excellent!:thumbsup2

Activities -- there are lots and lots of activities during the day at AKL. No beach movies, but actually, more choices at AKL than the Poly (dont know why). There is a list of them on one of the AKL FAQ threads, but they include firepit storytelling, night-goggles, music parade, cookie decorating...

We were very taken with AKL -- the theming, the animals, the atmosphere -- it all was very unique and special.

It sounds like you might like AKL better since you don't want to go to the MK. One nice thing about the Poly is that you can watch the fireworks on the beach at night.;) I would advise you to pick the one that you think will best suit your needs for this trip, unless you want to split like we did.:)

...uhhhh, isn't there a 'ticker limit'.....??? :teeth:

I believe you are correct! You have exceeded the ticker limit and will be issued a ticket Laura!!

The fine is to supply everyone on this thread with unlimited zebra domes!!:rotfl2:
