Hi AKL experts!!!

Here's a wierd one!!

So - I'm totally freaking out about having to eat out every day for 14 days....I know I'll end up throwing up after 5 days of burgers and fries! (This is an exaggeration as I will be getting salads and stuff!! But humour me!)

What do you recon my chances are of asking for a DVC studio if they have any free? (I'd pay...)

I don't know what your chances would be to switch to a DVC studio when you arrive -- are there any available to switch to now?

As for the food, I was really worried about it myself (and did gain a few pounds while at WDW even though I was careful what I ate). The best thing I did was split entrees with my DD -- at least that way I only ate half!:rotfl:

I love good salads, but I didn't find great ones at WDW. We stayed CL this time, so I didn't order lots of food for the room, but when we stay in a regular room I do pick up groceries so we don't have to eat out so much. It just gets icky after a while.

With a regular room, you get the little mini-frig. We've stocked it with bread, turkey, yougurt, tons of fruit, and other healthy foods that we didn't need to cook. So it is do-able. Good luck!:)

I'm new to the board but *love* Disney World! :lovestruc We've never done a deluxe property before, but AKL has been at the top of our wishlist since it opened. With the Buy 4, Get 3 deal, we just had to go for it! :banana:My question is whether it's true that the pool at AKL is open 24 hours? Also, which of the offered activities are good for teens?

...first of all JAMBO! and :welcome: ...no, the pool is NOT open 24 hours....you can check the daily activities board that posts all the days' activities for your teens...you probably have acess to the activties at Kidani too...

I was able to book the Jambo House Value Studio for $204/night...AAA rate. Is that good? Any photos on this thread of the studios? I know nothing about AKL...How is the smell there?

Thanks for this! I am going to get a garden grocer delivery for arrival. So will be having bagels and cereal and stuff. :) I wonder if garden grocer do like bags of prepared salads? That would be good for me with some ham on it.

Glad to be of help! If you want something that's not on their website, you can email customer service and ask them to find it and price it for you. We did that with the sunscreen we wanted (we only use one kind), as well as the can of Lysol I wanted...:rotfl: That one then made it to their online catalog -- I guess I'm not the only one asking for it!

If you have lots of preferences that they can't fulfill, there's another company called wegoshop that reportedly will get you whatever you want for a slightly higher delivery charge. I haven't used them yet, but others on the DIS say they are very reliable, too.

Hope you have a great trip!:)

AKL really smells great! The lobby has this aroma of African spices that it wonderful.

We had a room facing the savanna and spent a bunch of time on our balcony. There were never any bad "animal" smells coming from the savanna -- it's Disney, and the caretakers come by and clean up after the animals.;)

Plus, no one would want to spend $160 or $210 for the Sunset Safari if it was stinky out there either!! :rotfl:
