§ The distance from the Kidani porte cochere to the Jambo House porte cochere is approx. ½ mile

§ Members and Guests staying at Kidani Village may also book the Wanyama Safari (additional cost). During this approximately 3 hour safari-dinner experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, they will experience a recreation of a true African afternoon game drive and spend time with members of the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge animal programs team learning about the natural history and management of the animal collection at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The safari concludes with a true African dining experience at Jiko – The Cooking Place. Subject to availability, and Guests must be 8 years of age or older.

Thanks all for the food advice-one last food question...

Ok-we're definately in for Boma and Saana and since I've never been Le Cellier

If we do a signature (2 credits) should it be Jiko or Flying Fish...?

Between Tutto Italia and Chefs de France which way would you go?

On an entirely different note...

Would you consider doing the Sunrise Safari with a 6-well he'll actually be 7? Or better for my 14 year old daughter and have DS and DH do another special activity together?

Decisions, Decisions...

Such tough decisions!! I would suggest you look over the menus for Jiko & Flying Fish (Allearsnet.com has the menus). My personal preference would be Jiko, but that's just me!

Tutto or Chefs - again, check out the menus. If you LOVE Italian food, Tutto would definitely be the way to go! :thumbsup2

Kids LOVE the Sunrise Safari (although teens can be a bit hard to wake up at that hour!). I wouldn't hesitate to book it as a family activity. :cloud9:

Hope you and your son are feeling better. :goodvibes

Chefs or Tutto? They were both great. We loved everything we ordered.

Sunrise Safari? Great for kids if they can sit for a while and if they like animals. There were quite a few kids when we went. Our DD 12 loved it, and would have even when younger.

I have a Kidani question: is there a sidewalk or path between Jambo & Kidani for those of us who may prefer walking?

The general consensus is yes there is an uncovered path about 1/2 mile in length b/w the Kidani porte cochere & the Jambo House porte cochere

So happy I found this thread! we are staying at AKL for the first time this August and I am starting to worry that my boys (5 & 2) are too young and will not enjoy it. Are there plenty of things for the younger kids???
We wanted a more relaxed trip this time with lots of afternoons at the resort, hopefully AKL will be good for this

Yes, don't worry! There are plenty of things for little kids to do. Lots of resort activities, including storytelling and watching the animals in the dark with night-vision goggles. The pool is huge, really fun, and has a great slide (not too huge, not tiny). Plus, we spent lots of time just watching the animals.

If you can go to Kidani, it looks like there is a smaller pool there, plus a kids' water play area that looks like fun for little ones.

There are other kids' activities throughout the day, plus an arcade. Honestly, after a morning at the parks, we found AKL to be a kind of oasis in the middle of WDW. I hope you all have a fantastic time there!:)

tripleJboys,

Yep - what mmmears said! ;)

Here's a picture of the activity board which was out near the pool (from Oct 2008):

Welcome and congratulations on planning a vacation at our favorite resort! :cloud9:

Has this link been posted here? I don't think I had seen these pictures until just a few minutes ago.

I also have figured out why I find all these shots of Kidani to be a little "off-centering" to me. It is like when you walk into the Magic Kingdom at DL and look around and things kind of look right but kind of don't. This place kinda looks like Jambo but kinda doesn't. :teeth:

Elin,

It gave me an "oops - looks like you followed a bad link"!! :rolleyes1

(are you leading us astray! :rotfl:)

Except it's the other way around -- DL makes sense, and the MK at WDW seems "off" somehow!:rotfl:

Thanks for the link! I'm waiting patiently for someone to go there and tell us if, when staying at Jambo, it's worth it to take kids over to Kidani for the water-splashy play area.:)

I think I would want to go check it out for myself after arrival!

Well after seeing the photos posted today on various sites of Kidani, all I can say is ..... Wow!

I can't wait until my stay there in December.

I still think that I am going to be very torn between Jambo House & Kidani Village since I like going to Mara for breakfast. I guess that I will have to get used to not having Mickey Waffles for breakfast each morning.

Thanks to BVC23 and Elin for the links to the pictures! Kidani looks great. I am certain that I will eat at Sanaa when I am at WDW next time. It looks like a wonderful restaurant! I am still wondering wether the pool is really so much better than at Jambo. The play area is nice, but being an adult without kids, it does not have that much appeal to me :confused3 I am looking forward to all the reports which will be coming soon from those who will be there in May!! :goodvibes

No no no, you've all got it wrong!!

WDW and DL are both pretty 'off' DLRP is the 'right' one! :lmao: It really freaks me out seeing the Emporium at WDW as its sooo identical to the Paris one that the white castle down the street from it just doesnt fit!!! (obviously though Paris copied WDW but shhh!)

Kidani photos are beautiful!! I can't wait to go and have a good nosey!!
