AKL LITE II - We're #2, but we try harder....

Johnsonet -- that monorail cat really entertained us all (me, DH & DD) when we were sitting in the airport in Austin with nothing much to do. (well, DH did take photos of the BBQ sauces they sell there, including "Butt Burner", but your monorail cat gave us all a chuckle).

To all you wildbunch Dissers -- thanks for all the info. I actually was a big-time lurker planning a trip to AKL in 2007 that had to be cancelled. But after that, there was no way that we weren't staying there in 2009.

Just got back from the Mouse and had a great time. AKL was gorgeous, Boma was fantastic (we had dinner there at 9:25 after leaving home at 5am and flying all day). We wanted more days there...

... I'm already trying to plan for a next AKL trip...

I am anxiously waiting for the Kidani reports & photos! I'm having trouble booking AKL CL when we want to go, and I'm wondering (if we don't stay CL (yes, I've been spoiled)) if I should try out a villa in Kidani instead of a room in Jambo.

I have to run out the door to work, so I checked the FAQ for this but please forgive me for not checking some of the other posts because i'm sure this was answered before.

I'd like to get a cake or dessert delivered to my parents room the day after they check in, can this be done? Can it be zebra domes? Who do I have to call?

Speaking from personal experience........ staying at Jambo House NON-CL is very, very hard!! It beats staying home, but your neck will hurt from obsessively gazing longingly up to the lounge!!

Thank you. And that's just what I was thinking... I can't get the CL with the bounceback rate... dilemmas, dilemmas... I just keep thinking that I'll feel like the kid who wasn't invited to the party -- . In general, I wouldn't mind staying in ANY room just to get to stay there. But I really LOVED the IPO planning help this time, since I didn't have to obsessively wake up at 3:57am to make my ADRs!

Just sent my final payment off in the mail today... A money order for $5,124.00 mailed to Walt Disney Travel Co. Inc. in Atlanta, GA...LOL
It's so final when the trip is paid in full. I had until July 18th to make final pmt., but the money was just sitting in my USD acc, so I thought why not pay it off. Our family is excited to be going back to our favourite resort...beautiful AKL Club Level for 11 nights!!! I almost don't want it to get here too fast, as I enjoy savouring the anticipation!
It is an exciting feeling to be planning a trip to such an amazing place! And Happily...we are PAID IN FULL!!!!!

Hi everyone. I don't think I've ever posted in this thread. We (DH, me and DS2) are staying at AKL for 7 wonderful nights in about 18 days! YAY! We arrive May 9. This will be our first time back to AKL since our honeymoon and we are staying during our anniversary (3 years). We booked Savanna view this time which both of us are super excited about. I made a few requests on my reservation this time though and I'm feeling a little guilty about asking them. I want to get all your expert advice. My requests (in order of importance) are:

King bed (DS sleeps with us at night)
Arusha savanna (I want zebras!)
No roll in shower (need a tub to bath DS in)
third or fourth floor (for best view of animals)


I know that by asking for a king bed with a tub instead of roll in shower is really narrowing the pool of rooms available. Honestly I don't even know if there is such a thing as a room with a king bed, tub, on the arusha savanna on the 3rd or 4th floor. The CM I talked to said it is better to be specific about your requests so that they can be filled by the room assigner to the best of their ability. I think the only thing that I would be upset about is if they put us on a different savanna. I'd rather have queen beds and be on the arusha then be on a different savanna. But I realize all i have to do is nicely talk to a cm if the room is not to my liking. I'm not super confrontational so that's hard for me to go talk to them about it. LOL

Did I request to much or is it not even a possible request?

I appreciate, in advance, any advice that can be given about requests.

...first of all, , and I think you kind of answered your own question....is there anything about your requests that you CANNOT do without and anything that, if you don't get, no biggie?? I'd leave my requests the way you have them written and worry about it when you arrive. Then, upon check-in, you can explain to the CM exactly whet you desire in your room....GOOD LUCK and have a wonderful time!

I am definitely going to take your advice. I'll keep it the way it is and see what I get. If I have to sacrifice something, it will be the king bed. We can fit in a queen. I just prefer a King since we don't get to be that comfortable at home.

I look forward to sharing my trip with ya'll when I get back. I'm definitely writing a TR. I have a 50 page PTR going right now!

Well? Where's the link to your PTR?! (I see it!)

I would only make one suggestion with your "requests" since Arusha seems to be the most important to you and the king bed would be nice but not a deal breaker. I would list the Savanna first; bed request 2nd. And don't worry about it -- when you get there and you're given a room, if it truly isn't what you want, go back to the front desk and they will do their best to make you happy! (I have stayed at AKL/AKV probably 15 times - and twice I have not LOVED my location, immediately went back to the front desk, and couldn't have been happier with the results!
