I've been studying the AKL map today...

It makes it look like to get the the Mara you need to either go outside or walk through Boma....

I'm guessing the map is just missing some detail, right?

You have to go outside but the walkway is covered. You can't cut through Boma.

Thanks, BensMom. That appears to be a dedicated in Kidani.

Jambo House has a different kitchen configuration and I don't think there are any dedicated in Jambo House. There is also a third bathroom in Kidani 2BR but not in Jambo House.

The square footage of a 2 BR in Kidani is greater than one in Jambo House.

Jambo, since it was retrofitted, so to speak, has several differences. I stayed in the Grand Villas this time last year for my son's school break. Of course, it was in Jambo because we watched Kidani being built, but the GVs are on one floor in Jambo, whereas the GVs in Kidani are two floors. Not sure about other differences. My excitement is renewed talking about all the neat, new changes at The Lodge! I can't wait to get over there.

The Mara is accessible by walkway only. You have to cut through the downstairs which separates Boma and Jiko, through the double doors, past the pool on your right and follow the walkway. It's easy to find. There is also another set of elevators that will dump you out on the lowest level near Simba's and the laundry, near Pumbaa's gameroom, if there is a need to stay dry from the rain.

Okay, all this Animal Kingdom Lodge talk. I think I may have to go over there this weekend! LOL I'm jonesing.

If you are staying at the regular Lodge, can you still use the water play area at Kidani?

I would say, legally, yes, because if you think of the other resorts who combine DVC Villas and the main hotels, you can walk over to those pools and use them. Off the top of my head, I think of Wilderness Lodge and the proximity of the DVC and main pool, etc.

I am not sure of the distance from one pool to the other at AKL. I will make an inquiry from my castmember friend working at Sanaa. She will know since they also got a tour of the grounds.

Did you like the GV? Pictures I've seen are incredible.

The kitchen in Jambo House one and two BRs has an island rather than setup shown in your link. The models at both SSR and at the showcase in Illinois are of a Kidani kitchen. I actually love the island design in Jambo and wish Kidani had that design. I suppose there is a small chance they went with the island in Kidani too but we won't now for sure until next month.

The third bathroom in a 2 BR or second bath in the one bedroom is a very nice enhancement I think. There just wasn't enough room to add that to the old deluxe rooms in Jambo.

The walkway is covered from either set of elevators. I really think it's kind of cool to make that walk when it's pouring outside.:goodvibes

Lucky you!!!:cool1::cool1: How cool to be able to pop over anytime you want!

This thread gives some idea of distances involved and has a map, too. As you can see, it will not be a short walk as the pool is beyond the entrance to Kidani.http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2094256&highlight=distance+kidani+jambo&page=2

If you go to the DVC website, there are floor plans there.

I think all 2 BRs in Jambo House have two entrances. But if you have a dedicated two BR in Kidani, there will be only one entrance if it is like other dedicated 2 BR. If no one here knows for sure, try the DVC forums. LisaS is a real expert on AKV.

Thanks, I happened to find this right after I posted this :rolleyes1

Wish the resolution was better on it, though!!

Vlad:

Hope this helps:

Looks like it's a lockoff, with two entrances.

Yes, that's it exactly. Thanks!

I'm glad you found it. I didn't post the link to the site because of the log on stuff.

I hear you about the resolution. And how about the point charts? They're tiny there. I log onto the DIS to find point charts.

Far more importantly, I saw on the DVC forums that you're a new owner at AKV!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Welcome Home!!!!

Yes, finally!!!
:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

We are going to AKV in September, staying in a 2 bdr in Jambo house (hence the questions). We are staying with friends, and, as basically it is a Studio and a 1 bdr, I figured it had 2 entrances, but wanted to verify. I am so psyched about it!!!

Loved the GV! We were so lucky to have gotten it for that week. There were only a few since Kidani wasn't open. We were so happy, we invited all our friends over to see it. We stayed there mostly with just one other couple and their son, so it was really just the six of us. We had houseguests for a night or two, and it was absolutely very comfortable. So many bathrooms, we took turns rotating! I never got to take a bath in that magnificent master bath! We are thinking of renting it for a long weekend in October, when some friends come down. I'll be sure to do it then.

Well, tell Bob if he really wants to stay in the GV, he has to attend five character breakfasts, be picked for parade Grand Marshal for every park, ride Space Mountain three times in a row, wear Mickey ears with "Bobby" embroidered on the back. Sit on the sidewalk to watch High School Musical at Hollywood Studios, try out for American Idol, be picked to be in Indiana Jones and dress up with a turban on his head, drive the Indy Cars at the Magic Kingdom and constantly bump the car in front of him; have a joke submitted for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Factory; memorize the entire spiel for the Jungle Cruise, walk up and down the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse three times in a row; try and French kiss the Fairy Godmother; take a ride on Kiliminjaro Safaris and yell "Watch out"! really loud; Ride Kali River Rapids in nothing but a Speedo...and then we'll talk.

He was fine until the Speedo.

Hi guys...got back from CA late Monday night and I think I'm still jetlagged! Had a great time in Disneyland and San Diego. Very impressed with "the Land."

Also, I have received inside scoop pics of Kidani Village and Sanaa from my friend who will be working there! Looks like a lot of fun. They are already fully booked for May 1 and 2. I made ressies for Saturday, May 9, and all I could get was 5:15! Eeek. Can't wait to get over there and have a looksee.

Welcome back!
We can't wait to get the inside scoop (through you) either! :rotfl:

You are smart to study it before you go. We walked around in circles looking for Mara before figuring out that we had to go outside to get there!

Easy to find Mara. Just follow all the zombies with their refillable souvenir mugs in the morning!

Congrats vladimir!
Yes, glad you got it booked! You will love it.

:woohoo:

Thanks for all you advice everyone - that map is a little misleading, dont you think?
