AKL LITE II - We're #2, but we try harder....

Hi everyone, since we are all enablers for each other :rotfl2:, I thought that I would post my current thoughts on my December trip. I am currently booked at Kidani from 12/5-12/15.

However, I have been thinking about adding another day and leave on Friday 12/4. (So that is decision #1 -> do I add a day?)

Now, I should have enough points to be able to book DVC for that night. However, I have been toying with booking either the Poly or GF if there is an AP discount for the 4th and maybe the 5th. Why those resorts? Well I have never stayed at them. (So that is decision #2)

What are your thoughts?

1. OH yes! Add at least one more day. (very much the enabler here!)

2. Ummmm -- I think I'd go for the Poly as well.

....MOI??!?!....nuh-uh...
:lmao:

My thoughts?!:rotfl2: WEll, I toyed with the same thing for next mth! I had Poly, then Gf, then Poly and GF....and ended up back at DVC! Just wanted to use that great AP discount.....who needs a new roof on their house?!
Oh..we do!

Stay the extra day and you cant go wrong with either resort...depends on what "theme" you prefer...I have had great experiences at both!:lovestruc

I'm a super proud Mommy and I have to share these...

Henry is starting to learn some words-he says some very clearly, others not so much...does sign language for some and sounds for others!

Joe and I "quiz" Henry on his words and think it's adorable...so, I wanted to share. :goodvibes

There is a mention of monkeys, ducks, and lions-so not completely off topic! :rotfl:

Oh my tosh, what a cutie patootie!!!!!!!

Great pictures! So was all that food just for the 2 of you?

Hmmm Disney over Christmas? Why Jambo House? Is Kidani all booked? If so, then I would book Jambo and then waitlist for Kidani.

What about a 2 bedroom value at Jambo??

What an awesome thread!! Really enjoyed reading it as well as the pictures!! My daughter is on a trip now and I will be joining her, my son-in-law (on R&R from Iraq) and my grandbabies on the 14th. We are using our developer points however.

Our first trip home to AKV will be in late Sept/early Oct. I can't wait!!:goodvibes

brookelizabeth ~ Your little Henry is an absolute prince :)

...
13 days smoke free:woohoo:
42 more days until Kidani:yay:

Congratulations on both :cool1:

Hi there. 10 nights at Kidani?? Nice! :thumbsup2 I would totally give another resort a try. I have stayed at both GF and Poly (they are my 2 favorites besides AKL). Poly is a great complement to an AKL stay and the change in resort location makes it 2 vacations in one, as many have said. You can't go wrong with either resort. They are VERY different though. I really, really love the lush landscaping around the Polynesian. :cloud9: The red rooftops against the white "gingerbread" woodwork, though, makes the GF incredibly gorgeous. The rooms are bright and spacious. Of course, the rooms at Poly are spacious too. I really do love both. Not sure which to recommend

...don't feel bad - I didn't know what KWIM meant for a long time........KWIM?? ;)

Funny! Me too.

Roberta - I vote for adding on at the Poly. We never found the staff at the Grand to be snooty... just some (read many) of the guests! :snooty:
:rotfl: Boy, oh boy, don't get me started. Snooty = Phony ;)

...the Polynesian....ah, pure relaxation. We walk in the front door and just sigh. We've stayed there over 30 times.:beach: so I guess we like it.
I should say so!! :rotfl2: :cloud9:

Have you guys seen that the Sanaa menu is up on allears.net?

I looove indian food, but don't think we'll be eating there this trip.

The only problem with that is if you can't save your points by the time the AP rates come out. We usually book our DVC nights well in advance and then wait for discounts to come out for the weekend nights. Then we take what is available. Sometimes we get GF, sometimes the Polynesian. For our March trip, I was able to get a bounceback rate in AKV concierge for the weekend so we ended up in the same club 1 BR villa for the entire week. That was sweet.

Of course, with the realignment of points our strategies will change for 2010. We'll be less likely to move now.

Since the nights in question are at the start of my trip, I think that I will book DVC for the 4th and then when the AP rates come out, switch to either the GF or Poly. I should be able to modify my DVC reservation without having to cancel the reservation and rebook.

Its more fun being an enabler with someone else's bank account! lol

That is so true! :goodvibes

December trip:

Well you have all convinced me to add another day! (I know that you are very surprised.) I am definitely leaning towards the Poly, but as I posted above, I will probably book a DVC resort and then wait until the AP rates come out. That gives me probably 6 months to oscillate between the Poly and GF. :lmao:

Whether the extra night is at the beginning or end of your trip, you can drop a night on the DVC reservation without a problem. DVC reservations are so different than DRC.

But unless you're still within your banking window or have another trip planned within your use year for which you could use the points, the points might be hard to use. If you cancel within 30 days of your reservation, the points will go into holding. But I imagine you know all of this. Good luck with it all.... I hope you get a fantastic AP rate.
