...I know - you died and went to heaven....;)

Drooling...seriously, drooling...:teeth:

But you can do the Wanyama Safari since you're staying at AKL. :yay:

Want to see some pictures?!! :rolleyes1

Those are such great pictures! :thumbsup2

And johnsonet - thanks for the Jiko pics. I'm drooling again! :lmao:

Hey guys, I'm sorry to write this here because I've posted this question in a variety of places, and everybody is SO helpful, but people don't seem to know the answer to this question!!

What drinks are available for the refillable mug at the Mara AKL??? I really don't need the pop (I'm Canadian, LOL)/soda - I'm more wondering about the juice/lemonade/ice tea....anybody know?? pics??

Thanks!!

I know there was ice tea and lemonade - no juice though.

Thanks - yeah I was wondering how to get to WL and BC/YC in particular. SO I guess for WL we'll go to MK and get the boat, but I'll porbably make our WCC reservation on an MK day anyway.

Eeee, it's so exciting! I jsut wish I had definite park hours so I could really plan! I've got a rough idea though!

Thurs 1st Oct - Arrive afternoon, have a look around AKL/eat at Mara. Sleep!
Fri - AM: MK rope drop. PM: DTD, shopping, pool.
Sat: (Meet?) AKL Rope Drop
Sun: DHS Rope Drop, Maybe spectro/wishes
Mon: AM, lazy. PM: Epcot stay till Illuminations.
Tue: Wedding site visit day/engagement photo shoot?
Wed: US/IOA
Thu: US/IOA
Fri: MK

Then for the next 6 days I don't really have any plans. Do need to decide a MNSSHP date, and also a fantillusion day. But I definitely don't want our Main DHS day to be on a fantillusion day.....

Your plans sound great so far! :thumbsup2

My dbf and I will be at AKL villas in 47 days!!!! !

:dance3:  :dance3:

Hi brookelizabeth!!

Lol, I did mean dodgers!!! :lmao: Apologies for my awful typing!!

I have one of those tiny laptops and the keyboard isn't the easiest!

Oh, I thought you were talking about a team from England that I had never heard of!

brookelizabeth - it sounds like you really want to stay at Kidani, so I hope that happens for you. But remember, Kidani will be there for a long time, so if it doesn't happen this year, it will happen in the future.

At least this is what I keep telling myself when DH won't agree to this year's WDW trip. :badpc:

I can't help much, but I can see that you really want Kidani, so I hope you can work out a way to stay there :thumbsup2

Thank you! Yes, I do REALLY want to stay at Kidani...reaaaaaaaally want to...but it works better for the whole family staying at Jambo. Which, I AM excited about, but....

You have a great point. It will be there still in 2010...and it will still be "new"!! Thank you! :goodvibes

DH HAS to agree to the trip. You have a ticker! :rotfl2: Really, I hope it works out for you...could you move the trip up and take advantage of free dining? I'm sure they will have a code out for something awesome for the entire year though with this economy the way it is....something good is bound to be available for December too!

Is Kidani going to have restaurants? (I'm assuming it will) If so you and DH could rope someone in to babysit Henry for a night, get a lovely meal over in Kidani together and maybe have a night in a studio there? Then you have stayed during this trip....

WE HAVE A DILEMA IN MY HOUSEHOLD. I NEED YOUR HELP!

Please convince me it will be fine and I should be happy with a 2 bed at Jambo House regardless because I get to go to Disney...period!!

-ANYWHERE at Disney is better than not!
-Shut your trap, you get to go to Disney!
-Uh...hello? It's AKL, it's pretty no matter where you are!
-You still get to use the pool area, sure, it's 1/2 a mile away, but you can still go there!
-The Mara. Zebra Domes are in the basement. Think about that.
-Two words. Boma Breakfast. In YOUR hotel building.

Give me some stuff like that. Please, I need some convicing. :goodvibes

I gotta get on the horn with MS and get this baby booked...hopefully they still have room at the inn!

Hi Brook, great to see you posting again! Hope you will feel better soon. I will definitely let you know about my strategy to convert my non-Disney-DBF!

New Year at WDW sounds exciting, I am not sure I would want to brave it!!! Jambo House is a great place to stay at and I personally like the layout much better than the long shape of Kidani. I also prefer to go direct from my bus stop to the theme park and not stop at another stop, I am impatient on the way to the parks!! And (I think this is the best reason for you to stay at Jambo House): it is the place where you spent your honeymoon!!

For our December trip we are looking to move our trip to the last week in December, staying over NEW YEARS! (so stinkin' excited for those fireworks!)

However, we have DMIL, DFIL, DSIL, Joe, Henry and I all going and our new trip dates prices us out of Kidiani 2 bedroom (whoa points!). So, we are looking at, either a two bedroom in Jambo House, or 2 Studios in Kidiani.

I want Kidani because it's new!!

BUT, we do plan on making several meals to help the budget. (there is more to this trip than just Disney, but I'm keeping that part secret!)

So...a 1 bedroom is more sensible.

But...but...but...Kidani...it's pretty and new...and big new pool with splash area that I can see Henry loving...it's new...pretty...

Please convince me it will be fine and I should be happy with a 2 bed at Jambo House regardless because I get to go to Disney...period!!

I'm confused....ok, that's nothing new but....points are the same at Kidani as Jambo.:confused3

Good luck with your plans whatever you decide.:cool1:

Kidani will have one restaurant, Sanaa. Apparently it will be open for lunch and dinner but not breakfast. I think I read there will be a pool bar too.

Wickys friend...

Can I steal the super cute hoppity bunny?

I know it's the kind of thing you have to get sent - but he's soooooo cute!!

Steal away, Torsie!! :rotfl: I lifted it from kimmar, so what's hers is yours. :)

I'll pm you the code.

I know it...I was completely away from the DIS for about 4 days. We were really busy this past weekend - no wonder I ended up with a sick day from work today - no sleep, running all over tarnation and the Children's Museum=major germ factory! :rotfl:

Henry is doing great! He had a bit of a sniffle too, but nothing to slow him down!

:rotfl2: That's alright, I thought it was cute because you had no idea what anyone was talking about! It just put that extra bit in there....!

I love quoting back on everyone...it's fun! :goodvibes

Now, I haven't started my PTR, so for those of you who follow my TRs/PTRs, please keep this on the down-low! :goodvibes

Hi, brookelizabeth -- I'm not much help. I'd want to stay in Kidani too. :) But, Boma and Mara with the zebra domes are a huge draw.

I'm just trying to convince DH that we SHOULD by DVC. Not sure that's happening anytime soon, but he has at least thought about it some. I'm just happy he likes to go to WDW almost as much as I do.

Aren't those pics beautiful? Torsie said it was DLParis's Spectro :flower1:

Boo Hoo. I wish I were going to the Jiko Wine Dinner tomorrow night :sad1: Have any of you been to one or more of these? I used to go to a lot of them but haven't in a couple of years. I get email updates, though, and the most recent one gave me pangs :guilty:

Animal Kingdom Villas and Lodge

Phase I contruction is now completed. This was the renovation of existing rooms in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, called the Jambo House. Outside construction of the new animal barn is also complete. Disney Vacation Club has announced that the Kidani Village will open on May 1, 2009.

Time flies but it seems to me that phase I was completed many months ago....maybe even a year or more.:confused3 I think phase I of Kidani is probably close to completion as well. That's the part that will open 5/1/09.

On the DVC forums, Kathy posted that the Wanyama will be offered seven night/week as of 5/1. Here's a link to her post:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2137120

I mentioned free dining. And got a LOOK. My mom is no help - she says DH is probably right, waiting another year or so would be more practical, etc. She always has to "see it from his perspective...blah blah blah..."!!

Right :thumbsup2 That would be one way to finance all these Disney trips I want to take...

:rotfl:

Hey, everyone! *waving* I wanted to pop in and say how much we enjoyed our trip to the AKL in January. It was our first trip after several years hiatus (we had booked a couple of times, but moved due to construction) and we fell in love with the Lodge all over again!

I was so interested in the Kidani construction, tried to get a close-up view of it, but was confounded by the way the buildings seem to hide from each other, lol. A CM told me on our last day that the best way to get a closer look was to go to the fire escape, but we didn't get time, I'm sorry to say. I'm so happy to hear that Sanaa may have lunch seatings, that is my one complaint at AKL - no sit-down lunch option!

Can't wait for our next visit!

torsie24 - lovely photos, what a beautiful parade!
