Nice gift Kimmar! Maybe he was trying to make up for the whole Disney trip debacle? (as well he should!!) Seriously, he did a really nice job. :thumbsup2

Yes, it is gorgeous! Wow! My guy can't even work a screwdriver!

SUSAN - Met two of your friends at the AKL: Jodie and Rosie--Both good bartenders. ;)

You did!? How cool is that? If you mentioned Ben's Mom, who lives in Celey, they would have known...they definitely would have known Susan! I think that's probably a bad thing when I have a handful of bartenders who know my name and what I drink! :confused3

Wendypooh - yes, we really have the same problem :goodvibes The Poly was the first WDW resort I really wanted to stay at when I first found out that there was a place called WDW! :lmao: We really should arrange a meet if we happen to be at WDW at the same time again! Who knows wether 2010 will bring another winter trip to Florida for me as well! I am having my first DISmeet in less than three weeks with Brookelizabeth and her family! :cool1:

I know, when I was about 9 or 10 we went to WDW and went to the Poly to look around - didn't stay there though. But every since then, I've always wanted to stay!! Well, if we are both there, then we'll give it another shot at meeting!!!! I did get to hear your voice though............ LOL :lmao:

I remember brookelizabeth - I saw pics in her siggy of her little one!!!! Do you remember when she was preggo??? I do!!! OMG - I think I remember her planning her wedding!!! Geez............. I'm old!!! LOL

Kimmar, your christmas presents are beautiful, your husband is really talented! :goodvibes

They are gorgeous - he did a great job Kim!!!

They both knew you. Rosie even knew you were Ben's mom. She was out with you the previous night (the week of Dec. 14).

ROFLMAO!!!! Too funny!! I'm laughing so hard right now................

I've got to tell this story - it's absolutely true and I cannot for the life of me live it down............ I am the joke of the family!!

Here goes:

I was at my friends house one night with the kiddos............ she lives about a mile - mile in half from me. Anyway, we decide to order chinese food.. well, the guy gets there and rings the bell.......... I go to the door with the money and he says " AHHH, you move...." ........................ I mean, I'm telling you, my friend fell in the floor laughing.............. it was a riot!!!! I said, No, I'm just visiting my friend.!!!!! It was so funny - now, it's the family joke!!!

You think I order chinese food too much?????????????????????? :rolleyes1

I Love your story too - it just reminded me of mine!!

Wow, two for two! We had a disappointing dinner at Jiko too. When were you there and what were your problems?

We had dinner at Jiko on Sunday, Dec. 14. We had a great server, Shellie, who has been at Jiko for years. I ordered my usual, the filet (medium well). They butterflied it and still overcooked it. Shellie recommended the swordfish. It was a very small portion and DH said it wasn't anything special. My favorite dessert, pistachio creme brulee, has really changed--no nuts, not much taste and very little chocolate on the bottom.

I also ordered the kalamata olive flatbread to-go one night. That was also a disappointment. Not much flavor. My DH does not want to return to Jiko in the future.

Kim, I love your presents from your hubby:goodvibes They look great!

Love them all! :goodvibes
Me too!

Yeah, but if last year's tree looked like that...and this year's tree looked like that, what did "Furbaby" look like last year? :lmao:

Furbaby is gorgeous...I am such a sucker for doggies.

Oh, I am heartbroken to hear of your bad experiences! My friend, Mandy, had the swordfish over the weekend too. She was going to compare it with the new Flying Fish swordfish dish. I think she liked the Fish's version better, but she said it was still very good at Jiko. I always stick to either my shrimp dish, which is always very good, but I tried the pork. It was yummy. We usually bypass the desserts, so I can't comment on them.

However, you did have a great server! One of the best on the staff. Shellie is world-renowned. I hear she will give you the shirt off her back to make you happy as a guest!

Yes, I was a privileged guest at a Christmas party hosted by another bartender, who used to be at VF, and now behind the bar at the Flying Fish...Lorna, from Scotland. Rosie and I were both at that party. They are good people. Rosie's daughter and my son have on and off crushes on each other!

We had Shellie as our server once and she was fantastic! So, I have to agree that she is world-renowned, since I am from Germany! :goodvibes

Bensmom, how is the Flying Fish? I am thinking about trying this in January as a new signature restaurant. Oh and is there a bar for a pre-dinner drink?

We were there on Christmas night. I usually grant them a little leeway because of that, but too many things went wrong. We had a very poor server, they were out of many things (including the first two bottles of wine we ordered and the beer Bob ordered, as well as the filet and the braised short ribs!), our server didn't know the veggie of the moment (and had to be asked twice to please find out) and our four dinners were served lukewarm. The best things we had was the shared appetizer of Taste of Africa (I think I am naming it correctly). If we had dined at the end of their night I could understand a few of these things, but poor service and many missing offerings at 8:00 p.m. is just inexcusable for what we paid. I had spoken of this earlier in the thread but had not gone into as much detail. Bob's favorite restaurant at WDW has now gone to the bottom of our list. Our meal at Tusker House for lunch was better than what we were served at Jiko!

I wish we had gotten Shellie as our server! :)

Well I called today to book AKV for my solo trip next December. I was able to book all but the last night so I am booked at Kidani from 12/5-14. I will call back tomorrow or Friday to add the night of the 14th. I put in a request for 2nd or 3rd floor, so it will be interesting to see if I get it.

By the way, I thought it was interesting that when I said that I wanted to book AKV, the CM's first statement/question was "Kidani Village"?

KIM - What beautiful Christmas presents from your DH! He's trying really hard to make up for your canceled trip.

SUSAN - Met two of your friends at the AKL: Jodie and Rosie--Both good bartenders. ;)

We had a great bartender at the Uzima Springs Bar -- I don't remember her name, but she also remembered us and what we had ordered. Very nice! And made us feel special. :goodvibes

Do you mean NEXT December as in 2010??? Or this Dec. 09?? I'm waiting to book my trip (we want to book a package) for our Jan. 2010 trip - I was thinking I had to wait till around Aug. - is that not correct??

Thanks
